Hi! I’m J and this has been a side-project of mine for a while. For fun I got into Choice Script and decided this would be the perfect time to start working on TGOH more. This is my first stab at a devblog so we’ll see how it goes!

Carmine Ehrenreich is the villainess of your favourite series, The Graves of Heirs; the Queen of Apostates, she makes a pact with the elder god Deathe and tears the titular heirs’ lives apart. When the series ends with her death, you assume that’s that in the story of the possessed sorcerer and close the book.

Only problem is after you’re murdered by… something, you wake up to a proposition offered by Carmine herself; she hates the way the series ended and needs your help to change the story. Before you know it you are trapped in the position of the young Carmine in the horrific Ehrenreich Organization to learn the magic that turned her into a villain. Alongside the first of the heirs you must now make your way through a school year beset with magical mishaps, murderous teachers, and monsters that may or may not be hunting you down in the middle of the night.

Will you save the other students, or leave them to their fate? Will you help the heir, organize his death, or take the place of protagonist yourself? Hindsight is twenty-twenty, after all. You know how events are going to happen - what will you do to change the story?

  • Choose your gender (m, f), appearance, personality, and the magic you wield.
  • Choose to be one of 10 fantasy races.
  • Make friends with a familiar-like creature called a revenant that follows you throughout your adventures.
  • Choose one of two set character types to build onto.
  • Use your knowledge of the series to ‘predict’ the future.
  • Get good grades.
  • Make a pact with the personification of paranoia and chaos: Deathe.
  • Murder the faculty.
  • Destroy your school.
  1. [12-05-2021] Uploaded - well, everything. Demo uploaded. Tumblr Started. Thread Opened. Word Count: 36k. Average Playthrough: 7k. Progress: Prologue.

Happy Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month!

To celebrate this month we wanted to put together a feature on Asian and Pacific Islander authors. This month, you’ll see interviews from these authors about their inspiration for their projects, what they’re most excited about for readers, and how their identities influence their work.

If you yourself are of Asian or Pacific Islander heritage and would like your story featured, let us know! We will be putting together a separate rec list post including these stories and any new ones we get!

This Month’s Featured Authors

Parkerlyn, author of The Nameless

Legend goes when the world was formed, the mortal races, mortalis, were created with the gift of magic. But as time passed their hubris grew, and the sheevra were created to curb their pride.

When it comes to these chaotic and malevolent beings, the lands are full of cautionary tales. Though some would tell you that the stories are just that. To them, names have no power. There are no mysterious deals to fear, and the figure who seduces you into an alley at midnight is certainly no malicious spirit.

Which luckily for you means easy prey.

Cer, author of Snakeroot

There is something wrong beyond the trees. A curse infects these lands. They call it the Rot, a curse that distorts the lands and creatures around it. For years, its tide has been stemmed by magical barriers, dutifully enforced by hunters. For years, the strategy has worked… until now. Today is not your lucky day.

The barrier has cracked. Something slithers through.

Why now?

Why you?

Bubs, author of To The Whistling Winds

You’re a pretty normal young adult living in the 21st century: you have exceeding amounts of student loan debt, a housemate, and a job that pays just above minimum wage. You didn’t exactly dream of being a tour guide for the historical Chester Theme Park, but you’ve grown used to your every day life.

You thought you knew the park better than anyone, but as the friendly surface begins to crack and unexplainable events begin happening, you’ll need help dealing with the vengeful Fae, who seem to have a bone to pick with you in particular. Fortunately—or maybe unfortunately—there seem to be a Covey of fae seekers that might be inclined to help you…

Jess, author of A Bard’s Tale

It takes place on the fictional continent of Amaran, a high fantasy setting based on Asian and Pacific Islander cultures as opposed to traditional Eurocentric high fantasy.

In the wake of a terrible war, you are a young bard just starting your journey. Will you answer the call to adventure and embark to rouse the sleeping gods?

Nines, author of Orthall Bay

[…]The name always stuck, regardless of how many foster families you fell under. It should be comforting that at least one aspect of you will always stay the same, but it’s a stark reminder of how isolated you are. A name with nothing to belong to, nothing to trace back to. Then again, you’ve managed to get this far just on your own.

In Orthall Bay, an in-development interactive fiction, you play as a young adult who grew up as an orphan. You have no knowledge about your parents, or any form of family. That is, until you get a phone call about a recently-passed man claiming to be your grandfather. Two things are certain when you arrive in the maritime town. One, Orthall Bay is seemingly idyllic. And two, there’s no such thing as perfect towns.

The question is, how deep does its roots go?

God of the Red Mountain

Mei, author of God of the Red Mountain

You are a spirit born of the Red Mountain–though you’ve run away from it long ago. You’d be content to stay away, too, if not for the mountain god who suddenly comes looking for you. But what purpose do they have? And what exactly is your end goal?

Based on East Asian myths and folklore, you play as a powerful, nameless spirit in a shifting world. As a being caught between death and life, you are connected to a stream of limitless power, and the more you are known, the more powerful you become.

However, your journey will not be so smooth. You have been cursed by powerful, malignant beings known as Foxes, and it’s only a matter of time before you fall from sanity yourself.

Salty, author of Love & Friendship

Do contracted nuptial arrangements fire up your loins? Have you ever wanted to experience the high-highs and low-lows of a lady in the prime of her marriage market days? Have you ever lain awake at night lamenting your birth in a time where divorce is readily available and women no longer need to marry as their only economic means of survival?

Why not come find your happiness in the Regency world of balls, debauchery, and a surprising amount of paperwork. Become an accomplished lady of many talents and impress gentle society or use your feminine wiles and wicked wit to flirt your way into scandal and, perhaps even, ruin. Play matchmaker and decide the fate of the ladies in your acquaintance. Pursue your choice of suitor; a dear childhood friend, a lord of dubious reputation, a wealthy widow with a heart of stone, or even, the coveted gentleman with 15,000 pound a year. After all, if you can’t find love, you may as well marry rich.

Aster, author of Nevermoore

They say that curiosity killed the cat, but it won’t be satisfaction that’ll be bringing you back. Again. And again. And again.

The simple act of visiting your parents turns into something much more than what you were expecting when your car suddenly breaks down in the middle of nowhere, and you find yourself right beside a small town that’s engulfed by the trees.

Some of the residents you met right away were welcoming enough, happy to try and lend a helping hand when they can. But their smiles seemed more apologetic than happy, and their eyes looked at you with regret.

You never really did understand why that was…

Until you died.

So now, you are an unwilling participant in an endless cycle of death and resurrection. And the more you learn about the bloodstained history of the town and the past of its people, the more you’ll get tangled up in a web of secrets that threatens to keep you there forever.

So welcome, newcomer… to Nevermoore.

Meanwhile, the government-enforced superhero program draws mixed reactions among the populace.

Do you read WIPs yourself? Do you have any favourites that you have enjoyed/are looking forward to/would recommend?

Active WIPs I Like:

The Golden Rose (x) - Absolutely amazing game as I’m sure everyone knows. I’m terrible and have no idea who I’m going to end up with as my RO. Hearts will be broken, that I’m certain of. I get guilt tripped everytime by my friends by posting the scene where Hadrian’s crying after you turn him down as punishment.

West of Autumn Boulevard (x) - Love the creepy vibes of this game! The ending really got me on the edge of my seat. Really scratched my horror itch in COG form. All you Alexmancers are on my shitlist 👀 because I’m sure that man is up to no good.

God of the Red Mountain (x) - Beautifully written game and has so much customization and branching it takes my breath away. Another game where I honestly have no clue who I’m gonna end up with. Thinkin Kaski but uhhh it’s a toss up ngl….

To The Whistling Winds (x) - I don’t talk about it on my writing blog but I’m an awful awful theme park nerd and this WIP was basically homebrewed for me. Theme parks and weird fae stuff? Shout out to Bubs for making my dream WIP.

Supernatural in New York (x) - I love urban fantasy so much??? And SiNY is basically a classic wip, at this point, I’ve been following it for so long. The world is just so big? I really am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Nevermoore (x)- Imagine, you’re in an episode of the Twilight Zone. Literally trapped in a town with a bunch of people displaced across time. No one can die and no one can get out. Sounds pretty interesting right?? Right. Now go read this game.

Porthencrawl Witness (x) - Another weird town. But this time you’re in on the weirdness or you were rather. Things are weirder now and you have to figure out why. Time travel - pocket dimension shenanigans ensue.

Inactive(?) WIPs I Like:

note: if ur active i apologize. ily.

Mortal Hero (x) - Really not a surprise that I love a game that features mythology heavily. Any game that lets me romance Mercury is a good game to me.

Model Citizens (x) - Raf….. my heart bleeds for you. This is an oldie but a goodie. Also a Superhero game where you basically play as Louis Lane-esque MC with a tragic supervillian EX.

Reports from Philomenia (x) - There is not enough good sci-fi games??? Like honest to god aliens from outer space sci-fi but here it is.

Abysm’s Veil  (x)  - Basically you are a VENGEFUL MERMAID SPIRIT or maybe not? Play and see what happens :) Lovely game and is my go to sleeper recommendation.

Son of Satan: The Mortal Coil  (x) - Loved this game! The world is just amazing and the writing is top notch. Gives me Good Omen Vibes though, a tad more serious I’d argue.

Guinevere   (x) -  People really ought to play this tbh. There’s like two full books out. If you’re bored and want to spend the night playing some Arthurian Legend WIP here ya go. Be aware that it’s genderlocked female though.

Dead WIPs (call them RIPS):

Monsters of New Haven High (x) - EXTENSIVE amount of customization. It goes like the Dragon Age Origins Route in that whatever character origin you don’t pick for your MC that origin is then a SIDE CHARACTER in the game. Like how crazy is that ?????? I don’t usually care for High School settings but this got my attention easily.

The Beast in the Castle (x)  - GOD This WIP is like my Lost Lenore…. I cry and grovel and its grave of a forum page occasionally imagining what could have been… I am an absolute fool for Beauty and the Beast stories and having a IF version had me SO excited.

Children of the Gods  (x) - Another mythology WIP that I used to love? Like gave me some Percy Jackson vibes for sure but was also different enough that it was unique enough for me to enjoy it separately from that. RIP indeed.

Heaven’s Dog: Eulogy of Who I Used to Be  (x)  - Basically a Magic Girl WIP. I loved Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon growing up so this was like nostalgic in a way…

Tagged by @llamagirl28 and @salty-stories and also @cerberus-writes AGES AGO. Like months lmao. I have nothing to say for myself but :-)  ________

There was a great and terrible rumbling coming from the floor above. Merriweather looked up from her soapy pot, trying to steady the water that rocked itself merrily in the basin in front of her. She sighed.

“Your turn.” Jericho, the butler, looked intently at the good tea cups he had been stashing away in a teak china cabinet. The House had already lost two of the fine Porcelain in the last week alone. The Mistress would have an absolute conniption if another dish had gone to the wayside. Jericho as the good butler he was, vowed to not let her down.

“Pardon?” Merriweather blinked, drying her hands with the folds of her apron, “I do believe I had taken care of the Young Master more than enough times Jericho. Please, I insist. You take this calling.”

The floor shook again, this time the muffled screaming of two voices accompanying the shakes. A small saucer jittered on the cabinet shelf, Jericho diving for it before it took the plunge on to the shelving below. The butler gave the maid a pleading look. The tea cups his eyes seemed to beseech and she let out a breath relenting.

“Fine.” She said opening a drawer, fetching a small red sachet, “But I expect a hero’s welcome by the time I come back! Sir Jericho, I’ll have you know I nearly got a black eye the last time the Young Master had one of these fits.”

“Right,” the butler said looking to the floor above, adjusting the frame of his glasses, “Would a pudding from the patisserie be worthy of my hero’s bounty?”

Merriweather smiled, “It will do handsomely, yes.” She rolled up the cuffs of her dress to her elbows.

“Well then,” She nodded resolutely at her companion, “I shall be back.” She took the sachet and rushed out the door.

Ok so I asked this on another tumbler for another work in progress and wanted to know how would the RO‘s react if the MC set them down on their birthday and presented them with a card and a tiny box they open the card first and inside is a letter that tells them how much they mean to them and how much better the Ro makes them finishing with “I only have one question.” They open the box and inside is a ring and a small card that pops the question.

Misao: Shocked by the question. Wouldn’t know how to respond at first. They’d have to get back to you on that one  Anela: Would be ecstatic, mind racing with the possibilities and towards the future Louis: Just kisses you right then and there as his answer
