does anyone want to do book club* with me this year
*book club in this case refers to: we just read whatever we want on no schedule and then tell the other(s) about it. the only thing you do have to do is refer to book club in the third person, for example if i read piranesi i would say "book club finished piranesi and it is now imprinted on book club's soul forever" and the rest of book club would say cool thanks or ask for more info or maybe talk about it. and that's book club.
okay we're doing BOOK CLUB it will work like this:
- you are already in book club, everyone is in book club, welcome to book club
- read whatever you want whenever you want
- when you finish it, send me an ask with the name, author, and what you thought of it (i do not approach this as a review or a rating, just a personal response of like, what did i take away from it, what did it make me feel, was it the book i needed right now, did i have major beef with some aspect of it, what did i love about it, do i want other people to read it, or as little or as much of that as you want. this is about FEELINGS. i tend to keep this very brief, take anything else to goodreads or your own post)
- cannot stress enough how low effort and chill this is supposed to be
- asks must refer to yourself and others as BOOK CLUB, eg "hi book club, book club read this and liked it. would recommend it to book club"
- book club asks will get tagged as #book club 2024 so you can always find book club books
- if you want to comment on someone's book club submission just be nice, if you want to discuss in depth maybe take it to the DMs??
- uhhh that's all i can think of at the moment just be chill and fun and nice to each other if you choose to make your book club experience interactive. book club is not for ratings or trying to hit a certain book count or to judge other peoples books we are literally just sharing what we read

bc i love making lists i made a very simple book club spreadsheet just in case anyone wants to see what we've been reading at a glance. this is not meant to track # of books read or # each person read but rather just collate all of them and mark if anyone is reading the same book as anyone else. for sanity's sake im going to stay the only editor for now but if you have a suggestion lmk <3
