This is Part 2- as requested. You can read Part 1 Here.
“Cas… Cas please…. Answer me…” You mumbled, eyes sweeping across the star speckled sky constantly as you paced about the small field off the highway, your car parked not far off. You’d gone out for that round of beer and food with Sam and Dean- though your mind and heart hadn’t been in it, you had been too focused on what had happened, the look of shock and nervousness on Castiel’s face when you let slip you could see his wings (which apparently no one else could) and then he just left. He took off without a word and without waiting a second longer.
You had left Sam and Dean after that and taken your own car then, they let you go- they knew what you wanted and they weren’t about to stop you. So, here you were, in the middle of a small field, in the middle of the night, pacing back and forth a little, running a hand through your hair, sighing a bit.
“Come on Cas… I’ve been praying myself to death out here for an hour…” you mumbled lowly, letting your eyes fall closed. “Just talk to me, please? I… If it was something I said or did, I’m sorry, OK? I’m just confused is all… And… Well, I wasn’t trying to put you off or anything…” You shook your head and smiled a little ruefully, “God… Now I’m just rambling… Damn it…”
You took a seat down in the grass under your feet, and promptly fell onto your back, hair falling out about you and arms falling at your sides, heaving in a deep, heavy sigh and staring up at the deep indigo and small, faint specks of light from those stars.
“Why me, Cas?” You sighed, more or less giving up on the idea he was even listening at this point. So, you opted for just… Talking to yourself, not to sound crazy or anything.
“I mean, really? What could possibly be so special about me, that would make it possible that I am the only one able to see your wings?” You mumbled, “I’ve always been able to, you know… Since the first day I saw you. They’re gorgeous by the way…“ You closed your eyes and mentally punched yourself, ”.. I mean that in a totally not creepy sort of way of course…. I am so stupid…..“ You chuckled nervously,
Wow… I am an idiot… Damn it…
”… Anyway.. I’m just confused and I was hoping you’d help me understand… But of course, you’re probably busy, its probably nothing.. Just a fluke…. Yeah probably not…“
I am rambling… I am being an idiot… If it was important, Cas would tell me… Right…?
I don’t know… He did run off without a word, he did avoid answering my question… And now I am pretty sure he is ignoring me…
“Awesome…” you sighed, resting your arms on your forehead. “.. Freaking awesome….”
You shot up into a sitting position the moment you heard that familair, low gravely voice.
He was standing before you, head tilted slightly and wings folded to him as they usually were. Your heart leapt a little, happy he had showed up, and a little nervous he had heard you rambling since you figured you sounded really stupid.
“Cas!” You said quickly, he nodded slightly his blue eyes lingering over you a moment, swimming with unrecognizable emotions before his eyes fell and he took to staring at the grass instead.
“I apologize… For leaving like I did… And taking so long to answer your prayer…” he mumbled, you got to your feet and hastily brushed the blades of grass sticking to your clothing off.
“Its not a problem, Cas… I was just rambling is all, its alright.” You told him quickly, smiling slightly.
“… I was trying to come up with an answer to your question.” He said, earning a blink and a tilt of your head. “However, as it would seem- I have been unable to come to an answer that I will be able to tell you easily.”
“Be able to tell me…?” You echoed, eyes narrowed as your heart suddenly dropped a little. “Oh… Please don’t tell me I’m some sort of monster with weird ass abilities- and that’s why I can see your wings!” You grumbled, that possibility had been nagging at the back of your mind. That there was something wrong with you, that you were more than just a human…
“No, Y/N… That’s not what I meant…” Cas assured quickly, his eyes still darting around you, to the ground, the left, the right, and up. “You are most certainly not a monster or anything of the sort. Please don’t ever think that.” You blinked, nodding slightly and taking a step toward him.
“Then why, Cas?” Castiel placed his hands in the pockets of his trench coat and took a breath, eyes still flitting about and avoiding you.
“… This is…. Much harder than I anticipated…..” He mumbled, almost to himself. “… Humans aren’t able to see an Angel’s true visage, and that is very much the same for our wings… Which is why no one else can see my wings, beside you…” You nodded a little and tilted your head a bit more, he was stammering now and the look of pure nervousness about him, and the flustered twitch of his wings every once in awhile.
“Alright… But how does that explain why I can see your wings, Cas?”
“…. Well, there are a few rare occasions in which Humans may be able to see an Angel’s wings. Some humans are able to see our wings when they are close to death and fading in and out between the veil… Others who have a very large afinity for the Mystic Arts, such as psychicics or… ‘Mediums’ was it?“ He broke off as he attempted to find the word, you blinked and shook your head.
“Mediums is a word for it, Cas… But I’m not one so…?” you murmured gently trying your best to steer his thoughts back to the matter at hand. He nodded slightly, this time his eyes met yours and he held your gaze for a moment or two- much longer than he had been since he showed up.
”.. Right, since you are neither dying nor a psychicic it leaves only a few other reasons and most of which are not possible besides one…“ He went on, you blinked when you thought you saw a glint of wonder in his eyes, wonder.
“And the one?” That’s when he turned away, his head bowed a little.
“Its very uncommon… For Angels, love isn’t a choice… We are destined to have one mate and one only….. Sometimes they are….. Human.” His voice dropped so low you could barely hear him. “… For a human to be destined to find a mate in an Angel, they are usually able to see that Angel’s true vesage, or at least a part of it… As they have a very profound bond with the Angel.”
You took a small step back, your eyes growing wide and heart skipping a beat in your chest. For a minute you werent sure if you had heard him right, because honestly- that didn’t sound possible.
You’d always liked Cas of course, he was cute, and his manner about you and Dean and Sam was lovable. He had a good heart, that was clear, and he was very, very loyal- almost to a fault. You had never admitted it to anyone, but you did have a crush on him, however that seemed stupid because why would a Celestial Being like an Angel ever like, or even think of you- a human- in that sort of way? Ever?
Am I hearing this right? Seriously? Because it sounds like Cas is telling me… That I might just be… Oh my god.
It hit you full force, because you suddenly realized why he had run off. You understood why he had looked so shocked when he found out, why he had run off why he was stammering and not looking directly at you, why he seemed so flustered and nervous.
And then it occurred to you, all the times Cas had been around you, he always seemed so protective- especially when you were hunting. And the times he seemed nervous when you said something or talked to him, though he was always smiling.
“Cas… Are you saying… What I think you’re saying…?” You were dtannerung now, your heart racing and nerves rising. A very large part of you wanted that to be true, because you knew how you felt, but another part of you was still doutbing this was even reality.
“Y/N…. You are my Soulmate, you are the one I love.” Cas murmured, turning back toward you, his cheeks faintly red he glanced up at you slowly, he looked so nervous… It was actually very cute. “… I was hoping I would find a better way to explain that…”
You shook your head a little and smiled, hands clasped together before you and heart swelling the minute he said;
“You are the one I love.”
“Cas…” You murmured breathlessly, before you jumped forward and held his cheeks, pressing your lips to his- he was taken aback at first, before he fell into it and deepened the kiss.
His wings flared out, a sign of pleasure you supposed, before the great black expanse of feathers wrapped about the both of you, as his hands fell on your hips and you wrapped your arms around his neck. You two broke apart and you pressed your forehead to his, eyes closed.
“I love you. I have always loved you.”
