they're using diesel generators to power their remote charging stations in central australia. Most homes, where an EV will be charged most of the time, are coal-powered by power stations.
incidentally did you know? every time you transfer energy you lose a percentage. the more transfers the less efficient.
petroleum is the most efficient form of energy burn feasible for an engine.
did you know cobalt is being mined by slaves. guess what batteries are made of. guess how many batteries are in an EV.
the government wants all EVs by 2030. It will save you $1500 a year. actually it will save you $1000 a year. actually $800. actually theyve released an article insurance companies charge more for EVs because of their high acceleration speeds and volatile tendency to explode. the insurance now costs more than fuel did per year. The government tariffs petrol and diesel to pay for the roads. When everyone charges their stupid car at home what happens? Electricity goes up? What about the little folk with no EV?
They can't be worked on by untrained mechanics because they have so many electrical parts and sensors. A small dent can write the car off in the wrong spot because their wiring is so dense. You just wasted a car. Their services require no filters. Do you know what I give a mechanic for an EV service? A fucking packet of windscreen solution. EVs will drive me out of a job. It will drive my mechanics out. Mechanics fucking hate the cunts and they have to be specially trained to work on them. That costs money. That costs travel time.
They have no resale value because the battery loses efficiency every single year. They are being thrown in the bin after less than five years. They are made of plastic and junk. The greens fucking love them. All EV by 2030. Zero emissions zones in the cities. Poor grandma has to leave her Falcon of the last 20 years and walk into the city to see the garden show.
My car is 40 years old. She has had a few repairs over the decades. But the carbon footprint of one chassis and body and paint and a few filters in four decades? Is far smaller than the chassis and body and paint and batteries of five, maybe ten, years before it has to be replaced. the EV cannot live long enough to make its carbon footprint smaller than the telstar's, even though mine has 40 years of fucking petrol emissions. How pathetic is that? How is that green?
In a few decades, maybe, electric cars will have a place in the everymans world. They've been around since the 1960s, slowly developing. I always try to believe technology can be improved on.
And if you're buying an EV because it suits you, not because you think it's environmentally friendly, please go on! You are allowed to buy a car made of cobalt and broken dreams. I am allowed to wish i could run you off the road.
But they are not the solution. They cannot fix the issues we face.
