y/n and jim’s similarity was what made the two get along so well and become so close throughout the years they spent working at dunder mifflin, but their similarities would come back and bite them in the ass at times, hence the situation they were both stuck in.

it was like a cliché story of two best friends who were secretly pining after each other, except this wasn’t a story, it was their life. every time the two of them were given the opportunity to be together, they would always take it— that is, in the office, of course. the both of them had only been together outside of work, if it was for work and with their coworkers. it wasn’t like jim didn’t want to spend the weekend with her, it was just that he was too goddamn scared to say anything. usually, jim was confident with girls and had no problem asking them out, but with y/n it was different. he genuinely cared so much for her that he was scared about doing anything that could risk losing her, even if that meant separating her from his private life.
