Welcome Post ~

Hi! I’m Xanthe/XP, she/they, 20′s, queer & from the UK, and I do art (predominantly portraits)!

I’m a multifandom fanartist & I draw in a wide range of styles and mediums, although I specialise in digital art. I also 100% freehand draw everything!

I also have an ongoing series where I talk about art and offer advice to beginner artists!

Below are some important links if you’re interested in commissioning or supporting me!

Fiverr (for commissions, also feel free to just message me if you’re interested in commissioning me!)

I’m on the rest of the net as either ‘not-xpr-art/not_xpr_art’ or ‘dangerliesbeforeyou/dangerbeforeyou’ (places like instagram, twitter(though i rarely use it cos it sucks now lol), facebook, artstation, artfol, cohost...)

By the way, I am trying to make my blog more screen reader friendly! So I am trying to ad Alt text to all new artworks I post, and going back through my older artworks and adding Image Descriptions to the captions of images! There will be some I miss and I’m sorry about that, but I am going to try by best to do everything!

My ask box is always open so if you ever have any questions about my art or anything, feel free to ask!!

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has ever liked/reblogged/etc my art! It honestly means the world

another attempt at doing the 'painting without seeing the colours' challenge lol! this time i thought i'd paint over the dan sketch i did earlier in the year!

the image on the right is what the image looks like with my night light filter on 100% lol! it's so funny to see how the filter completely changes all the colours pfft (i was CONVINCED i was making a nice blue/grey gradient for the background whilst i was painting it lol...)

& also did a quick phil lol (yes i have already painted this sketch properly here but i couldn't be bothered to do a new sketch pfft)

recently saw someone post a video of them doing an artwork where they couldn't see the colours they were painting with and I really wanted to attempt to do something similar!

now I couldn't figure out how to do it the same way the original did, but I know from experience that trying to paint with my laptop's night light setting on was really hard because of how it obscured the colours!

so I decided to put that on and try drawing something in ms paint since there's a few pre-set colours that I could use to create a piece! (plus the pre-set colours are already kinda odd colours that I wouldn't necessarily pick to create a piece in the first place lol)

and this was what I was able to produce lol! there were some colours I ofc knew, but some of the lighter colours were legit hard to find lol! I really enjoyed this process and will def try doing a more complete piece at some point!

BBC Wreck - Tarot card fanart series ~

(04/2024)

this is heavily based on the characterisations in series 2 btw (which is so good guys!!! please PLEASE watch this show!!!)

also, I was sorta going for stylised/semi-realism for the designs here! as well as a hint of art nouveau because what can I say, I love swirls lol!

The 10 year art tag!!

Thought it'd be fun to start a little art challenge here! This isn't a super original concept (actually saw a couple people on other places do something similar recently) but it sounded fun anyway lol

If you're an artist and see this, reblog this (or create another post, whichever you'd prefer) with an artwork from 10 years ago next to a recent one to show your progress!

I think we as artists can often feel we're not getting anyway until we see our older art and realise that we have actually improved a lot!

Also then feel free to tag some other artists so we can spread the love <3 (no set number of people you have to tag btw, you can do as many or as few as you'd like!)

(side note, if you don't have any art specifically from 10 years ago then just go with the oldest works you have lol!)

These two pieces were made almost exactly 10 years apart, and I honestly do still really like the 2014 one, though definitely prefer that my art has become a lot more expressive and emotive over time!

Tagging (no pressure to do it of course!!!): @yeollbae @aerialworms @iroismart @all-or-nothing-baby @mayarab @reddoll123 & any other artist who sees this and wants to do it lol!!!!

2012 vs 2024 (first digital art redraw)

found that old 2012 piece a little while back which I think was technically my first ever digital artwork lol! I remember using deviantart's drawing program & my mouse to do it lol!

thought it'd be fun to draw over it to make them actually look like trees lol! (still used just my mouse for this one, but this time I used my regular program to draw it (firealpaca))

this is honestly why I tell people just getting into art to not delete or throw away your old stuff!!! ofc you don't have to share it online like I did, but I honestly do think it's so useful to artists to be able to physically see the progress you've made!

reflection reflection reflection reflection (a mulan themed artwork)

(04/2024)

been a while since i did an artwork inspired by mulan, so thought i'd remedy that by doing something expressive and abstract! this is based on the themes of identity, gender and conflict that is prominent in the mulan story btw!
