I'm sorry I keep posting my tiktok comments but please. What does this mean. What do people THINK shipping is for anymore???

[ID: a screenshot of a tiktok comment with identifying information whited out, which reads "not trying to be rude but you can't just create a ship for fun 🤨", the thumbnail of the video on the comment shows a character from an animated show with white text over it. End ID]

the way charles’ and arthur’s relationship carries throughout the game fascinates me.

in late chapter four, charles notifies arthur that he’s leaving to help rain’s fall. when arthur asks to help, charles declines because it’s personal.

but then, in chapter six, charles asks arthur to help because it’s personal.

the fact that charles, the most reserved and suppressed character, trusts arthur enough with something he knows is none of his business—there’s something so tender about that.

whether romantic love or platonic love, arthur and charles loved each other dearly.

speaking of the scary ocean, in the Salish Sea we have bioluminescence in the summer. It’s not like in movies where the whole sea glows. The microorganisms which cause it only glow when they’re disturbed. On a warm, still night the sea is black until you stick your hand in and shake it around, then it lights up blue.

anyway my friends and I dive at night and it’s really cool to watch someone from above because they look like a celestial being in the water, glowing blue underwater.

what is deeply UNNERVING is when a Very Large creature passes you at some distance, and you know because you see a blue, glowing mass go by and you think well, that’s just not my business.

I want Din Djarin to meet another clone so badly. I can already feel the confused vibes radiating off of him when he sees one, and then when he hears them speak.

Considering Ezra was missing in another galaxy and not even hat man will tell us what Ahsoka has been up to, Cal is probably the only one with any particular records and history that Luke could have heard of what with all of his wanted posters. Luke must think Cal is really cool and experienced, right?

oh absolutely, but can you imagine if cal had to apply for the jedi academy

Palpatine: My boy, I'm afraid to report that Master Kenobi is very likely sleeping with your wife.

Anakin, who knows for a fact that Obi-Wan is sleeping with his Commander, a good chunk of Ghost company, the Organas and Quinlan Vos: ...where is he finding the fucking time???

Palpatine, oblivious: Oh I've heard from some very reliable sources that-

Anakin: *pulls out a spexcel spreadsheet, the 3rd System Army's shared spoogle calender and a calculator*

Anakin: Your Excellency. That's just. not logistically possible.

This. Exactly this.

The 'write for yourself uwu' culture shift has done real damage to fic writers imo. I recently had a post on the importance of strategic commenting break containment and I'm surprised by how many strangers who rb it in agreement feel the need to reassure in the tags that they do write for themselves, but...

There is a kernel of truth in the heart of this sentiment--if you only chase stats, you are unlikely to find joy in your writing. At the same time, I think we've veered too far in the other direction.

It is only natural to want engagement and the write for yourself crowd often overlooks how communal an effort fic writing usually is. So many story ideas are born from casual discussions about h/c's and favourite scenes and what ifs and the comment box is a cornerstone of this process. Not only can the discussions in the comment box be a hub for idea generation on their own, but even when the said idea generation takes place in DMs or Discord chats, commenting is often the first/easiest way into befriending authors; it's where community building starts.

Further, the write for yourself crowd similarly overlooks that the things a writer can write for themselves are often vast and many at any given time, and relative engagement levels across fandoms/ships can play a large part in which of those ideas a writer chooses to pursue--or whether they choose to publish their finished work at all.

In sum, I don't think we need to be this apologetic as writers for wanting feedback and engagement for what we post -- writing is hard work and it's only human that we want something external out of it in turn, however rewarding the process might intrinsically be.

honestly christianity really hit the jackpot with "jesus christ" rolling off the tongue as an expletive so well. the number one problem with fantasy settings is that whatever names you come up with to take in vain will never hit as well as "jesus christ"
