Guys they got photographic proof of a supposedly extinct Australian bird that hadn’t been seen for 100 years and now they have ‘plausible’ sightings of the Tasmanian tiger that they’re going to go investigate

If they find some alive I’m going to lose my shit

The Australian night parrot was actually rediscovered three years ago with enough evidence (including photographic) to prove that it was still extant in Queensland, the photographic proof you’re referring to is actually in regards to a photo taken of one 2000km away in Western Australia which is exciting because it broadens the birds’ range and forces mining and building companies to actually survey land for night parrots before being allowed to build which might hopefully save the birds from becoming extinct all over again. The finding in Queensland three years back resulted in a big conservation push to try and find out exactly how many birds remained and to try and help bring the population back so finding out that there are more viable populations is only a good thing and also suggests that other viable habitats across Australia may need to be surveyed on the off chance there are night parrots hiding there.

The Tasmanian tiger search is also exciting as the two sightings came from a national parks worker and a frequent camper who both had the critters in sight for long enough to give detailed descriptions and are both respectable sources. The sightings came in from two different points in Northern Queensland, in an area that is exceptionally large and remote offering a fair chance for a Tasmanian tiger population to have survived there without detection. And even if they don’t find proof the research alone coming in from the camera traps will provide data for the biodiversity in the area. But here’s hoping some thylacines are still clinging on!

How awesome does this sound though. You get infinite money and once a week you get to take a child to a candy store or toys or us or somewhere they love and buy them as much they want this would be fun given the kid wasn’t a brat.

There is no downside to this at all

This is the best, because it says A CHILD, not your child, so I could pick one of the really poor kids on the streets and go “Your life is going to change right now”, and I could buy everything their family might need, along with a house, a food supply, toys, clothes, and everything they never had the chance to have before. And the best thing is that I could do this with lots of children, and not just one. I could give a lot of children in need a full week of Christmas basically and maybe give them a chance to have a different life. That would be great.

Bless u ^ humanity still exists.

Plus depending on how you define “child”, you could be helping high students who struggling with application fines and even pay for college tuition, room and board, or books

This is the purest post i’ve ever seen

Having troubles with facial angles in your drawing style?

The program is called Sculptris and is a free off-shoot program from Zbrush, that program that you keep hearing about but either takes selling your kidneys or piracy to actually use.

If you download it and sculpt out a facial model, you can have references for your own work for all of time. No more endlessly searching Google for reference materials or twisting/rotating/flipping a drawing to see if there are flaws. And you can easily edit it to create more facial types. This way, you can make character references for any and every face and facial angle that you can think of.

The program offers mirroring right from the start, so your faces will be perfectly symmetrical. You can turn off the symmetry for things like scars or otherwise.

It takes a little time. For instance, I downloaded the program on Christmas and, in my spare time, this took a few days of getting familiar with the program (first day) and then sculpting for a few minutes each day, mostly due to my perfectionist nature. And this one isn’t even done. I still have to mold the mouth, ears, and other smaller aspects before I consider it done. However, I was so giddy over the possibilities that I wanted to share this with my fellow artists.

From now on, I have reference for a face in my own style and will be able to create things so much easier in the future.  I hope that this helps you guys and that you have fun with it.

I absolutely recommend Sculptris!

UH

GUYS????

This really useful oh my goodness. It takes a little figuring out, but once you get the hang of it it’s actually pretty easy. Just watch a couple youtube videos. Seeing how other people do it helps you to make sense of it.

OH BOY LOOK AT THIS HANDSOME SILLY do you know how hard his stupid face is to figure out at different angles? DO YOU??? Now I have a 3D ref!!! AAAHH!! so excite much 3d wow very angles wow

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: sculptris is an amazing 3D modeling tool for how small it is and is a great place to start whether you just want drawing references for your characters or you actually want to get into 3D modeling.

I highly recommend it.

Tears fill my eyes as I read the words on my screen. The world seems to stop spinning for the slightest second as I re-read the anonymous message over and over again, gripping on to the hope that the words will magically disappear. But they didn’t. Anon had done it; they’d figured out that the only way to make me take off my hijab was to call my hair ugly. My one weakness.

A tear streams down my left cheek.

Eight years of academy hijab training…wasted. I had to prove this extremely relevant and good-looking anonymous person wrong, I cared too much about what they thought. How could I live my life knowing that there is one person out there who thinks probably my hair is ugly maybe? How could I look myself in the mirror? How could I face my family? My shoulders shook as I cried silently, and my chair squeaked ever so slightly at the vibrations; as if it, too, was crying in sorrow.

It wasn’t until that moment that the second part of the message dawned on me… how would I prove them wrong without breaking the rules? Was it really against the rules? I reach into my hijab and pull out a scroll. At the very top, in cursive jet-black inked letters, the word ‘Rules’ stares back at me. My heart is racing as my eyes frantically read the scroll.

‘Rule #1: no killing people,’ it reads. I let out a whimper. There go my evening plans.

Suddenly, my eye catches the next words. The scroll is rustling in my trembling hands as I turn my face away, tears spraying out of my eyes like the spit of a white person as they try to justify racism. The cursive words felt more like a curse of words, vivid and refusing to disappear as if I were still staring at them even through my closed eyes.

Rule #2: don’t show ur hair girl it’s ugly lmaooooo
