Hiya!

This blog is where I post my The Sims 2 gameplay. I might sometimes share the CC I create. I also have a sideblog for bookmarking cool CC by others. Downloads Currently playing: Foxfire Forest (chrono)

I don't take requests ◾ WCIFs are welcome! Here's the tag for browsing ◾ Please only send asks related to me or my content ◾ You can do whatever with my stuff, just don't monetize it in any way & please tag me if you share!

Having problems with my CC? Please let me know about it! But before you do:

  • Run HCDU+
  • Check the original post for updates, known conflicts, and requirements
  • If the mod or object is causing an error that isn't explained by a known conflict, an outdated version, or a missing file, please send me the error log

@rented-space's 3t2 SP07 Denim Thanaz for EM (requested by @episims ❤)

For Will! It has fatmorph, comes in the original 3 colors, and you can choose if you want them repo'd to the AM files (that you can find here), or not. I also made mesh edits to the AM and TM meshes, so the shoes don't sink into the ground. (For these, you'll still need to download the recolors from the link above)

Simple White Plate & Bowl Defaults

A sort of a complementary thing for the control plate textures I shared earlier: a white texture default for all the plates and bowls, using a single 256x256 texture.

The texture is by @whysim, they shared it as a default here but used 1024x1024 textures and included GMDCs as well. This version is more compact and doesn't conflict with plate/bowl mesh replacements.

The file is compressed. Full credit to Whysim for the texture!

Control Plate Textures

A texture pack for @earlypleasantview's control plate & bowl, with seven new textures by me.

For those who're not familiar with these mods: you can buy a control plate or bowl under appliances/misc. After being placed anywhere on a lot, sims will use plates or bowls with the textures of the control object. You can change the texture by clicking the control object with an active sim. It's very simple and super neat!

I also included a remapped version of the dinner plate mesh that improves how the undersides of the plates look with these textures:

The replacement is optional. It shouldn't change how single-colored texture defaults for plates look like and some patterned ones won't look worse, either.

Since I use the smoother bowl default by @pforestsims myself, I made an edit of the control bowl that doesn't conflict with it and uses PF's smoother mesh as the control object. Likewise, I made an edit of the control plate that uses a stack of my remapped plates as the control object.

Both edits are optional. Just delete Earlypleasantview's versions if you want to use my edits.

The files are compressed. All textures are 256x256.

Additional credit to @whysim for the texture base. The patterns came from Freepik and Vecteezy, nothing AI-generated.

Hi epi! Is there any projects that you are working on that you're excited about? Just curious. I'm a sucker for downloading everything that updates/fixes this game lol and i love all of your defaults and your color traits project stuff. Thank you for all that you do!

Hi! Ngl I'm lowkey anxious to answer this because it reveals how incapable of getting things started boring I am xD

I have a long to-do list that doesn't get any shorter since I constantly get sidetracked with other stuff. There are some things on it that I'm excited to see in the game, but I'm not very excited about making any of them lol.

I don't like revealing my projects since all kinds of expectations freak me out, but I still have a couple color traits mods I want to make. I'll probably/hopefully do those in a bunch sometime soon.

Oh and I made some textures for the control plate, which I'll share later today if I manage to take the previews. This was yet another sidetrack project.

I can finally see what's in my decorations! Thank you for posting about that problem! I would've never thought it would've been a random little plant!

Hi! I... admit it took a moment before I realized what this is about xD

I'm glad those posts from four years ago can still be found. You're welcome!

Mailbox Mesh Default Replacement

A simple default replacement for the mailbox mesh that removes the wooden ball from the top of its stand.

Also included is a new add-on lamp by @pforestsims that can be layered with the mailbox, and is a pretty garden lamp on its own:

It'll pull all the metal recolors you have for the Blazin' Buckaroos lamp.

And for those who use the 4t2 Ol' Rustic Mailbox Cover by Michelle, I nudged one verticle clipping with it inwards, so it won't show from under the cover anymore:

The cover's not included, you can download it from the link above.

The files are compressed. The default is compatible with the existing recolors for the mailbox and its stand, as well as texture replacements for them.

Update (13.5.2024): The lamp can now be placed at the edge of the road without turning moveobjects on.

Credit and thanks to PF for the lamp!

Update! The lamp is now placeable at the edge of the road without turning moveobjects on. So, no cheats are needed for layering it with the mailbox :)

Done in collab with wonderful @pforestsims – it's 2024, high time to rework how cameras work in TS2!

With this mod, sims can only take pictures if they have a camera in their inventory. To make this more feasible, the default camera is now buyable under Electronics / Small for §120. (If your sim happens to leave on a vacation without a camera, they can still ask kind locals and tourists to take pictures for them.)

In addition, there are six new functional custom cameras.

For most cameras, you'll need to order the photo with a computer to get a printed version, as is the default behavior.

Instant cameras: With Classic Polaroid and Instax cameras, the photo will be added to your sim's inventory right away. They require the instant photo mesh to work (included with the download). The photos taken with instant cameras can't be ordered with computers.

By default, the instant photo has a clear vignette overlay. You can add a tint to it by clicking the mesh and choosing either blue, green, red, or orange tint from the pie menu. It's also possible to revert it back to being clear.

There are two versions of this mod: the 'cellphone' one makes the cellphone work as a camera and is meant to be used together with my phone default. The cellphone will get picked for taking pictures only if the sim doesn't have another camera in their inventory.

The 'no cellphone' version has all the other functionality but the default cellphone won't work as a camera with it.

Files are compressed. Requires Bon Voyage and maybe University too. A collection file for the custom cameras is included; you can keep only those that you like, the mod works with or without them.

🚨🚨 Conflicts with the custom smartphone camera mod by @jellymeduza. Meduza has shared compatible versions in that same post.

This mod conflicts and isn't compatible with no bad photos mod by @picknmixsims.

There's also a conflict with the snowproof accessories mod by guirnaldas. Both mods will work if you make the camera overhaul load after the snowproof accessories.

This mod is compatible with camera default replacements that don't include an OBJD override, for example this one by @vegan-kaktus or this one by me works perfectly.

Update (12.5.2024): The default camera and all custom cameras are now sellable in OFB businesses. The cameras will also appear in the correct position when moved away from a sim's inventory.

Update (24.4.2024): Visiting sims can now be asked to take a picture for you if they have a non-instant camera in their inventory.

Update (29.1.2024): Taking pictures with instant cameras now fulfills the want to take a picture just as the normal cameras do. Sims using instant cameras also correctly gain art enthusiasm from it.

Update (28.1.2024): Both the default and the custom cameras won't get covered in snow anymore if used outdoors when there's snow on the ground.

The mirrorless camera was converted from TS4 by @lordcrumps, thank you for sharing the textures! The telephoto camera was converted from TS4 for this project, thank you @deedee-sims for extracting! The DSLR camera was converted for this project as well, from ACNH.

Update! All the cameras (default+custom) are now sellable in OFB businesses. I also threw in a quality-of-life tweak: the cameras now appear in a standing position even when moved away from a sim's inventory.

Hi Epi, I'm loving your camera overhaul mod. I did quickly realize that my dream of having a sim owned camera store was impossible, as the cameras are marked as unsellable. I'm guessing this has something to do with how they were made and how the original camera functions in the game. Is it possible to make them sellable? I'm a total modding and SimPe novice, so if it is impossible or very difficult, I completely understand.

Hi! Yeah, the cameras weren't sellable because they were cloned from an accessory and it didn't occur me to check that bit.

But it's an easy change. I updated the files, they're all sellable now :)

@engagementscenario I'll pull these out of the comments for easier replying:

  • You'll only need an adjuster in front of those doors you want to use special settings for, others will work like doors normally do
  • Yes, the adjusters work on community lots too
  • If the adjusters are deleted from a lot by pulling them out of the game files or by not adding them upon a lot installation, it's possible that the game replaces them with random objects as that's what happens when you delete custom content like that. The doors next to them will work as doors do without adjusters
  • If you replace a stay open adjuster with a close behind one, the door will close on its own shortly after switching to live mode

I hope that answered everything, let me know if not!

Door Adjusters

When placed next to a door, these adjusters change the logic the door is opened/closed with, or if it can be used at all. The adjusters turn invisible in live mode. There are 4 of them:

  • Stay open: the door will stay open after a sim walks through it, and continue doing so until the adjuster is removed.
  • Close behind: the door will close after a sim walks through it, even if there's a sim blocking it.
  • Weather based: the door will stay open after a sim walks through it if the outdoor temperature is above 0 and it's not raining. The door will close on its own if the outdoor temperature drops to 0 or below or it starts raining.
  • No in use: sims will not use the door. If the door is multi-tiled, sims will only not use the side that the adjuster is placed on.

They come with a mod that's required for the adjusters to work. The mod includes a global fix for doors getting jammed by objects, so that can't happen anymore. Sims standing in the way will still prevent doors from closing, unless you use the close behind adjuster.

The adjusters should work with all kinds of doors. Here are examples of the placement with different door types:

A note about sliding doors: their animation makes it impossible for both sides to be open at the same time. If you want to make them stay open (either permanently or based on weather), use the not in use adjuster for the other side of the door. Sims will then obviously only use the side of the door that's open.

The adjusters are intentionally not quarter-tile enabled to make them easier to place. There are two versions of them: others show up in the catalog under build/doors, while the others are only accessible through a collection. Only use one version at a time.

The files are compressed and a collection is included. The adjuster mesh is 2 polys and uses 128x128 texture.

🚨 The mod conflicts with the doorjamfix by Pescado and the blocked doors can close hack by @julsfels. The mod fixes the same issues so they won't be needed with it.

The weather based adjuster only does anything if you have Seasons.

Custom food commitment is a thing of the past!

I want to highlight a creation by someone else today, because I think it's super cool and very useful to the community! Have you ever wanted to use custom food, but were put off by the fact that once in, you shouldn't technically remove it because it creates broken memories and tokens and whatnots? Do you have food in that you wish you could remove but don't want to because of those aspects?

Well fret no more, because jonasn has posted an updated version of his Memory Commander, that now has an invalid food removal option under Mass Deletion.../Remove EVERYONE'S Invalid Food. It cycles through the entire hood, removing memories where the food subject no longer exists, leftover plates that are empty (does not include apartment lots, or secret society lot) and fave foods referring to non-existing dishes. It could already sort of do it for one Sim at a time, but now it can do the entire hood all at once! How amazing is that?!

I was a tester for this function and it's been working perfectly in my testing. That said, please know that I am in no means an expert on corruption or anything such. To me this seems like a great tool that is super useful, but use is at your own risk. I've run a number of tests for jonasn on the functionality, and he's done what he could to verify the outcomes to see it's all good, but as with anything complicated there's always a slight possibility that there is something you overlooked. The object pops up a dialog that informs you how many things were removed, and if you exit lot without saving then the actions aren't saved, so I recommend just testing it if you are interested :)

Aside from this one function, the Memory Commander is also basically a one stop shop for anything memory-related you could possibly want. It can assign any game memory, it can modify existing memories to change subject etc. You can even assign other custom memories with it, as long as at least one Sim has gotten it in the hood. It's such a handy tool for anyone that likes memories, and as you know, I am memory obsessed so I am a big fan!
