They really are trying to shove this down our throats huh? HBO is starting to sound like a desperate ex, trying convince their SO they didn’t just burn the entire fucking house to the ground.

@adanylovinsideblog LOL

Yeah, the breakup happened a month ago. We’re over them. We’ve moved on and are focusing on all the awesome friends we made during that relationship (my love for Daenerys).

But they’re still texting at 2 in the morning trying to convince us that they were in the right when they cheated and abused us, trying to get us to come back to them. No HBO, it’s not going to happen. We have higher standards than to let your dumbass back into our lives!!!

I wash my hands if this bullshit. Dany deserved better and so did we.

So now Miguel Sapochnik says that Dany did in fact go straight mad.  She lost her mind.  Entirely.  It wasn’t about grief or loss or fear, she just went nuttier than a fruitcake.

And he says that Missandei’s death was the snap that caused this.  While a part of me thinks it’s incredibly moving that the loss of her friend caused her to go crazy, I can’t help but feel that that is so reductive.  He literally takes any nuance out of Daenerys at this point.

He also says they deliberately didn’t show Dany on the dragon, burning people alive, because they wanted to show that she didn’t matter, her point of view didn’t matter.  “She and the dragon are one.”  So you QUITE LITERALLY, dehumanized her because she has “lost her mind”.

Does anyone else think this is ok?  Because I really don’t think this is ok.  There is so much to unpack here that I don’t have the strength.  All of this also directly contradicts Emilia’s thoughts on it, and it even contradicts the D’s!  How freakin?  HOW?  All of this is giving me rage hives, I don’t know how to handle it.

can they all shut the fuck up? the hole is dug no need to dig any further.

“The destruction of King’s Landing, for me, has always been an audience participation event. You wanted this, you wanted this, you wanted this. Here. Is that really what you wanted?…I felt like there was this thing of this bloodthirstiness that exists in the fans, for revenge, for this payback that is personified by Dany. I just wanted to get to the core of what that actually means. Because even though the characters that don’t exist in the end, what you’re looking for, as an audience member, is death and destruction. I wanted people to know how bad death and destruction can be in the safe environment they’re living in.”

Oh FFS… there’s a difference between “predicting or expecting something” by looking at textual, visual or musical clues (King’s Landing was always a time ticking bomb, no matter who or what was supposed to set it off. Ding Dong Michael, people have been picking up on that for years) and “wishing for it to happen”. I still tip my hat to the amazing battle sequences Sapochnik filmed, but those guys need to own up their shit and stop inculpating the audience left right and center.

“I felt like there was this thing of this bloodthirstiness that exists in the fans, for revenge, for this payback that is personified by Dany.”

The fuck? Dany never personified revenge. The show always treated Arya as their personification of revenge. The fans wanted revenge on the Lannisters for the fucking Starks, not so much for Dany or the Targaryens. There was a sense of wanting Dany to take back what was stolen from her family—but I absolutely reject that this “bloodthirstiness” was ever on her behalf, especially not by the general audience. We rooted for Dany not to get revenge, but to triumph. For me, there was nothing personal enough about Dany triumphing over Cersei to want her to draw blood, not on Dany’s behalf. Any blood I wanted was for the Starks. For Ned, for Robb, for Catelyn, for those who survived too. And even for Tyrion. The show never invested us in Dany’s revenge the way they invested us in the Starks’ revenge (not before season 8, in any case, but even then they did a piss poor job of it).

The show used Dany as their fall guy to get the Starks’ their happy ending. They made her do the dirty work, got her hands bloody for their revenge, and then they punished her for it. She was never anything but a literary device for these writers—apparently to teach us some ham-fisted lesson on how war is destructive. What a revelation.

Jqkgjdjgj yeah the phrase “this idea of revenge personified by Dany” made me go????? When did Dany ever do something for revenge? Did they all have a brain injury and mixed the characters? Arya and Sansa were both literally RAISED on the ideas of getting revenge for their family or what happened to them. Even fucking Tyrion was driven by revenge more than Dany ever was.

Can they stop defending/explaining this shit season already?

Thank you email from Mencap to r/freefolk for the fundraising campaign

“Hey

So, as you have might have guessed, I am not Kit Harington. I am Reece, and I’m a massive fan of Game of Thrones just like you.

I, like everyone at Mencap, was amazed when we saw you and the /freefolk Reddit community get together for this fundraising campaign in recognition of Kit’s extraordinary work as Jon Snow. I, and all of Mencap, bend the knee to you all!

Kit, like us, believes in a world where people with a learning disability are able to live the life they choose with no unnecessary barriers being put in place. Everybody deserves to be able to fulfil his or her dreams. Your donation will help Mencap work towards this.”

We’re still haven’t quite reached the goal of £50,000 so, if you can, please go and contribute - or help spread the word ❤️❤️❤️

ive said it before, but imma say it again. i dont care if daenerys going mad and dying by the hand of jon is properly developed in the books. i reject that story telling choice. daenerys targaryen didnt survive a childhood filled with abuse, hatch three dragon eggs, gain the support of thousands of freed slaves who choose her as their queen and cross the narrow sea to be gaslit into “insanity” and be murdered simply because she wasn’t “loved enough”.

Everything from HBO, Game of Thrones, it’s producers, it’s writers, it’s actors (with the exception of Emilia) really wants me to feel like a trash person for loving Daenerys and it’s breaking my heart. I was totally fine till they went and posted that last “beautiful death” artwork. That’s really the note they’re ending on huh? A throne covered in blood? A lifeless, loveless, barren world. Alright I’m done wasting my time. I’ll continue to love Dany but the rest of it is dead to me. I’ve wasted far too much time on this series. It’s proven to be a giant waste of energy that I’ll never get back and brings me nothing but anger and spite.

I think it’s nice that for the most part no one posts pictures/gifs of “that” scene, in respect of Dany’s memory.

Resurrection posts and eye opening parallels are the only stuff I will ever reblog with that scene.

Yeah that scene never officially happened on this blog. Paradoxically though, I still accept that Dany has been ressurected.

If the sexist Nissa Nissa plot is Dany’s true fate then that will be the final nail in the coffin as far as my investment in ASOIAF. Not here for women being fridged to bring about a better tomorrow. Willing participant or not. Just let them live for once.

Seriously, I don’t give a shit about how well-written it is, Dany dying to further a male character’s arc or handing over all of her achievements in a silver platter to Jon, it’s sexist as fuck and doesn’t deserve any praise nor any of my time.

me: I really hate Jon. And Sansa. And Arya. I hate all of them.

me after a minute: I hate D&D for making me hate these beautifully complex characters, I’ll never forgive you for what you’ve done to them, you incompetent dicks.
