june 10: my abusive partner/caregiver finally left me after assaulting me for the last time. i have been alone without home help for a few days and am having a huge flareup of all my chronic conditions and barely eating (to the point i am weak and getting chills all the time) or sleeping because i’m trying to do everything myself. organizing community support for myself is very difficult since i’m so isolated. i really need no-prep foods, and weed for my chronic nausea. my cat’s monthly injection appointment ($150) is also coming up and i really don’t want to miss it. literally anything helps and so does reblogging. please help if you’re able to. thank you so much for reading

America needs regulations on vehicle size. I've seen full-size pickups get bigger and bigger over the last twenty years, and this has reached the point of sheer absurdity.

Nobody needs a truck this big unless they're doing commerical medium-duty loads. And then you're just better off getting a proper medium-duty truck like an Isuzu cabover or an International.

But the truth is that the auto industry actively caters to a small subset of insecure American men who want to buy such absurdly massive trucks to look tough, and they should be held accountable for this.

Pedestrian deaths are reaching an all-time high. The price of fuel is skyrocketing due to the war. And the planet is still heating up. Why do not need these giant death machines on our roads, and we never did.

I don't want giant pickup trucks taxed, as some propose. I want them to be legistlated out of existence.

I used to work at a place with a drive thru and without exception, every single time I saw one of these huge newer trucks it was being used to transport one person, the driver. Maybe a passenger as well as. And nothing else. The trucks that were obviously being used to do work: haul stuff, haul trailers, were always much smaller older model trucks, with a few exceptions for specialized vehicles like tow trucks. I'm sure that part of this is that the people who worked hauling stuff around with a pickup all day can't afford these stupid monstrosities. Ban them.

Not to mention most American suburbs and city streets were designed for much smaller cars, making massive trucks like this parked on the curb a pain in the ass at best and an active hazard that chokes up traffic and leads to more accidents and more likelihood for pedestrians crossing the street to be hit at worst. I live in a neighborhood where most of the houses, and the city planning, went up between the 30′s and 50′s--thus the streets, in theory, are supposed to allow two cars to drive in opposite directions. This is not fucking possible because apparently 60% of the men in my neighborhood have decided they need giant fucking trucks that haul around fuck-all. So this leads to playing goddamn vehicular “Operation” with everyone driving in the opposite direction of me on the road.

The second one is an older 2018 article that discusses the issue with the federal highway administration's approach at the time of essentially blaming pedestrians and giving them safety tips instead of addressing our infrastructure and other contributing issues.

Help protect Weelaunee Forest and stop the construction of cop city!

There was a conference last night for the Stop Cop City week of solidarity coming up February 19th-26th.

The main takeaway is that if people are interested in taking action, the best thing to do would be to target the construction company that the police have contracted, the funders of the project, and the insurance company insuring the project. The cops are the ones who want cop city built, but they can't do it without the groups mentioned above.

The construction company is Brasfield and Gorrie. My understanding is the company itself probably won't turn a huge profit from the project and is mostly doing it to strengthen relations with the police. If we can show them they will lose money from this project they may pull out. One way to show them how unprofitable this venture would be for them is to make it harder for them to complete other projects they're working on. One suggestion from the conference is that those who live near construction projects being done by Brasfield and Gorrie could try to obstruct progress on these projects to show there will be repercussions if they don't pull out of cop city.

The main funders of the project are big banks and corporations. I've included a link at the bottom with more details but some of the groups funding this are Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Target, Home Depot, and Chik-fil-a. The Atlanta Police Foundation is also helping fund and support the project. Below I've linked a map that shows the locations of these funders and offices of members of the Atlanta Police Foundation.

The insurance company signed onto the cop city project is AXA. At the conference last night it was emphasized that AXA is the main target we want to go after during the upcoming week of solidarity. The destruction of the forest cannot continue without an insurance company covering them. I did a quick google search and was able to find several AXA offices near me. Like with Brasfield and Gorrie, if we put the pressure on AXA they will hopefully realize this project is simply not worth it and pull out.

This is a list of targets which includes a map of where these targets are located throughout the US. There is also a list of actions that people can take, but be creative.

i fucking hate life I can't stand this always running out of money shit, everything costs so much idk what I'm gonna do. we need dog food and cat food and we need to pay a couple bills, so my stepdad is 380 dollars in the hole until next week and I hate begging for money so much I can't stand it, and I feel like I'm being selfish for asking, and I just don't know what to do. everything is getting more expensive and whenever I eat or buy food for a few days, and get gas all the money people gave to me is gone immediately. hi! i've decided to get a wheelchair. i want the featherweight 13.5 pounds wheelchair with gel cushion, black drink holder, and a wheelchair carry bag so it can carry meds and other things i might need. this costs hundreds of dollars and i cannot afford it. but i want a wheelchair so i can start going outside more and living more of a life and i want one i can sit comfortably in for hours if im at a festival like a food festival or an art festival or the farmer's market. my fibromyalgia has gotten worse and its hard to hold myself upright even with a cane, which hurts my hand and arm and exhausts my back and only mitigates the eventual limp i develop from being out for too long. my parents cannot help me afford this so im asking for help.
