Amused crimson merely watches as the teenager scolds him lightly.
On and on he goes about this and that, and though he wasn’t speaking, the slightly sparkle in his eyes made it apparent he was listening closely. Idly, he twirls the crimson umbrella in his hand, patiently waiting for Yuicihiro to finish.
When he does, he simply grins.
“Slow down there, tiger. One question at a time--” He lightly paps him on the head with his umbrella. It was so soft it should have barely hurt.
“I know she was. She doesn’t need me around cramping her style, though. I know how you kids are at your age. You need space!”
He paces back and forth in front of the boy leisurely, not at all alarmed by the situation or what he was being told. He did, after all, already know what was going on.
“The kids are fine, left them in the care of my faction while I take care of business. Being the world’s greatest dad is tough work, ya know!” He suddenly stops, pointing the tool in his hand at the other accusingly.
“I know you’re stressed, but you’re getting worked up for no reason!” In a flash, he’s behind him--gently rubbing those exhausted shoulders of his and urging him to sit down nearby.
“Relax for a moment, take a load off! Let’s chat and catch up, kiddo.”

“I don’t have the luxury to swing my sword for the purpose of revenge alone like I started out a long time ago, before this whole twisted maze opened up before our eyes. In the scheme of things now, it doesn’t matter - I’m not blindly trusting people, but you’ve proven you’re not going to be hurting my family, and that’s enough.” It might have been an encouraging thing but the way the boy looked absolutely ragged and even more weary to the bone every time they met up from the burdens that kept mounting upon his shoulders made him just sound tired, as broken as he was on the inside.
His shoulders visibly sag. “Oh, shit. I was one of those kids once.” It’s tightly said, as if the topic of even saying it wasn’t even something he was talking about, but he sounds visibly pained. He couldn’t have gotten there in time within those months but Yu still feels like it’s his fault. A long pause.
“….thank you for getting out who you could. Are they sheltered away from the vampires that see them as the ‘L’ word? They’ve gotta be starving – not to mention with the clothes you get there, if you could call them that, they need supplies too.” There had to be something he could do. He was still ragged from the shot injected in his neck that had turned the tide of battle against that progenitor. He smiled and laughed it off but inside his body was in tatters, trembling for rest.
“….can I do anything?”
“Hmm..” A faint smile spread upon the face of the vampire at the boys words. For once, a certain degree of seriousness seemed to replace the usual silly demeanor he kept up on a day by day basis. “I see someone has matured a bit.. although how could you not, considering everything you’ve been made to endure and protect.”
A faint chuckle escaped his throat at the thought, and he turned his back to the youth, gazing out into the sky. And for a moment--just a moment, one could have swore they saw sorrow mixed into those inhuman scarlet eyes of his.
“It’s funny how having something precious to protect can bring the best out in us..” A sinister smile. “--and also the worst.” In an instant, he hopped back around to meet the boys green hues with his own, usual expression plastered back on his face. Like nothing had changed.
“Or something! I think I read that in a book once.” He stuck out his tongue playfully and began pacing back and fourth, swinging his parasol back and forth as he did so.
“They’re all safely hidden away at my private manor. Supplies has been hard to come by, but my faction and I have managed to provide for them all.”

“Whoa. You must have gone into hiding then?” A wry smile. “Kinda like a cockroach, though I’d prefer you over the last progenitor we saw any day. Sanguinem got destroyed I heard. I’m guessing you got out.”
“Whoa you’re actually talking to me and not trying to kill me! This is such a good day!” First that dreadful city was taken out, and now the elusive and yet captivating youngster here was talking to him like a normal person? Dreams really did come true, it seemed.
“Yeah--my residence isn’t in the main city. I prefer it that way, and I’m kinda glad the city got destroyed. But--I am concerned about the poor kids who probably got caught in the crossfire.” The vampire frowned, and looked around the vicinity, looking for something.
“Tragic.. shame I couldn’t get them all out in time.”

“ You’re asking that NOW ? OF COURSE we’d get in trouble. But that doesn’t matter. We’re partners in crime. ” We both share the blame. A smirk pulled at the edge of her lips. “ Don’t even think about running away. Betrayal will result in the WORST of punishments. ”
“Heh..” Lucian brought his hands behind his head as he continued walking beside the pinkette. That was one thing he always admired about the queen, she certainly didn’t mince words or hesitate in her actions.
“If you say so--well, I don’t care anywho! I was already an outcast in society.”

Oh how DESPERATE she grew to be, the very core of her pride was wounded, BUT she didn’t hesitate to take the chance TO ESCAPE. “ Very well… I am under your care. ” Krul grew more wary. She had lost EVERYTHING. She was afraid to owe him this favor – of ‘ saving her life ’. Fears like him, making her abide to every command he’d spew ( making her his slave - he could if he really wanted to ). She was in no position to argue. Anything would be better than starving while cemented into the wall.
Oh how the queeny had fallen, chained to a wall and obviously weakened from the days in confinement. Honestly, he had no terrible intentions behind his actions. Part of him just wanted to help the poor lass out. It was hard to see her suffering so terribly. Of course, the other part of him was hoping to win her support in trying to make peace with the humans. Or, if nothing else, treat the children under their care better.
With a swift movement, the taller male cut the chain with the revealed sword hidden within the umbrella he normally carried. He wondered how many people actually knew about that.
As the small body fell limp, he caught her easily and lifted her into his arms. “Here..” He lifted a small vial of blood to her lips and waited for her to drink.
“This should help you recover a bit.” Even if she wouldn’t be able to move for awhile, this would help her keep consciousness at least.

Blinking a few times as the last dark spots in her sight faded into nothingness, she focused on trying to see who was in front of her. Although the explaination itself did gave her a nasty feeling.
No one usually called the infirmary their ‘abode’ and usually they called her by her rank, not a nickname. Beside the now clearly distinct red irises and fangs were clearly enough to whipe out her remaining doubts.
But some points were still shady and nowhere near calming. Among them his goals, a thing she won’t boldely bring up. “ Why am i still alive ?” Surely this guy did not act out of pure charity.
She did not gave her identity, he didn’t asked it, and if he didn’t care it was all the better for the young strategist. His attire also made his ranking less blurry, a noble, out of all people. “ What does a vampire noble wants with me ?” She inquired slightly more venomously than intended, bitters memories from her previous capture coming back.
It was hard not to notice as the already pale shade of skin turned impossibly paler. No matter how he tried, Lucian couldn’t hide his most defining features. It was an expected reaction--one he had dealt with before. Thankfully, she didn’t seem to be freaking out and trying to escape. That would be unpleasant to deal with, especially in her condition.
“Why wouldn’t you be? I found you and decided to help you, you’re truly lucky!” The noble laid back in his chair casually, arms behind his head and true disregard for any sort of threat. “I don’t want anything except for you to get healthy and happy again! “ It was true, he’d let her leave once she was good and healed. He’d even escort her somewhere safe if she wanted.
Suddenly he shot up in his chair, eyes practically sparkling as another thought came to him and he winked--yes winked.
“Ah--but of course, if you chose to be my friend I’d be eternally grateful!”

“Right?!” The vampire let out a hearty and cheerful laugh at the morbid statement. He couldn’t exactly disagree with that statement, considering his trouble making demeanor and less than pleasant reputation. It really was a shock that his existence has been tolerated by the few who were above him in rank.
“Though I suppose the same could be said for you. Albeit I’m not sure alive would be the right term.”

Ice cold hues opened slowly, a faint groan escaped the girl’s mouth, starring blankly at the roof as memories slowly settled back. Elyon was heading toward a checkpoint to give a message from the Intelligence Force when her power went out of control again. She had collapsed afterward, maybe someone from the JIDA had found her.
Elyon turned her head upon a sound beside her, turning her head to see who had come to see her. She inhaled sharply, diziness nowhere near gone and eyesight still blurry. Blue orbs finding hints of red in the other’s eyes, it couldn’t be a vampire right? Elyon spoke up carefully “Where am i? who are you ?”
A gentle smile and kind eyes was all the girl could see painted on the males face as she awoke. He had been dutifully watching over her all night while she recovered. Wouldn’t want some young and idiotic vampire getting the wrong impression and attacking her.
Technically speaking, they were in a vampire’s stronghold, but he had no intention of turning the girl over. After all, she was his guest. One her had found in the streets bloodied and beaten, but a guest nonetheless.
“I see you’ve awoken, sleeping beauty.” Slowly he rose to his feet and bowed gracefully in front of her. “Lucian Negresu at your service. You’re in my humble abode.”
“In my experience, there’s no such thing as luck.”
“Perhaps--” Eyes rose curiously to meet the young girls own hues as she made her bold statement. Most would argue that she was indeed lucky to meet a vampire that didn’t want to suck out every drop of her blood on the spot. Not to mention one willing to help her.
“But, if you don’t call our meeting fate or luck, then what can you call it? A well-timed coincidence?”

A sea of fire, was all he could see, but he wasn’t concerned with the heat or how it licked greedily at its surroundings, turning all in its wake to ash. No, he was more concerned with the small cottage on the outskirts of the village. More quickly than he could think (and faster than he knew even he could run), he was inside of it, wading through the fire in search of something, no--someone. He called out frantically, searching for any sign of her.
He found her.
His eyes wandered over her long dead corpse, far before the flames had engulfed the cottage. A set of bite marks caught his eye, and the way her eyes, oh those once beautiful golden eyes were dull--only one thought registered in his mind at the sight.
He was going to kill every last one of them.

The vampire awoke with a gasp, jolting into a sitting position and coughing violently as he awoke to the figure shaking him. His crimson eyes were wide in shock, the face of a man who could snap at any given moment. It quickly melted away, being replaced by his usual demeanor as he took a moment to compose himself and focused his attention on the youth. How long had he been out?
“..I’m shocked you didn't just try to kill me.”
“They’ll soon be back, and in great numbers.”
“Oh I hope so.”
A devlish smirk painted itself over the usual cheery and happy vampire. Lucian wanted them all to come. To focus on him rather than on the humans attempting to flee unnoticed. Lucian was a troublemaker, and a 5th progenitor at that. It was no surprise that they’d be foolish enough to think he did all he did without some form of motive. Laugh they might at his antics, but at the end of the day he would be the winner of this battle, whether they knew it or not.
“I was just starting to get bored. Hopefully they’ll at least be entertaining.”

Got a call from the financial aid advisor telling me that they made a mistake with filing my account (or some other sort of clerical error) and said that, basically, they owe me money. Welp.
