Comments: From studying these opening lines, I see that I often put some level of tension into them, however subtle. I write opening lines to build the opening paragraph from, so they tend to convey a sense of place, mood, and/or character.

That '70s Show 2.23 “Holy Crap!“
It’s obvious that Jackie put it there, but I’m willing to bet he kept it there despite his initial protests.

Bonus:
An article in the school paper spells trouble for Jackie....but can she find a way to still come out on top? Perhaps, but not before accidentally airing some of her dirty laundry (pun intended, ahem) in the process.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read and review!
That ‘70s Show Circles: Season 1 Infographic -> if you want to see the raw data you can look here -> GIFs of season 1 circles can be found here
Other fun facts about the circles in season 1: -> Bernice’s (Grandma Forman) only appearance in a 360° shot -> It took until the last episode for someone other than Hyde, Eric, Fez and Kelso to appear in the basement. -> Donna would not appear in another circle after the season 1 finale until the finale of season 2. -> Jackie did not appear in any season 1 circles, pseudo or otherwise.
This is exactly how I felt about Leia almost kissing Nate in the finale instead of Gwen 😭😭

You may have already commented on this and I’ve just missed it, but what do you think of the scene where Donna’s trying to think of a going away gift to get Eric, and Hyde suggests and ultimatum, saying that’ll make Eric wish he was dead. I’m assuming these are Hyde’s feelings about Jackie’s ultimatum, and was wondering what you thought of this.
These are definitely Hyde’s thoughts about Jackie’s ultimatum, and in order to understand them fully, we have to take them within the context of when he said them.
In the previous episode, Jackie had told Hyde she needed an answer to her proposal by “noon on Sunday,” but she (supposedly) left for Chicago before the deadline she herself set. So not only did she give Hyde an ultimatum, she broke the rules of that ultimatum and took his choice away.
He’d clearly intended to propose to Jackie. For season-7 Hyde to make that decision, it meant he didn’t want to live his life without her. Even pre-ultimatum, he was depicted as feeling this way in season 7. In “Don’t Lie To Me,” Jackie says she can’t be with him if he doesn’t know if they’ll get married someday. His response is, “Don’t threaten me, okay? It’s not going to work.” Why should Hyde feel threatened by Jackie’s potential withdrawal from his life? Because he wanted her in his life, just not necessarily as his wife but as his life-long partner. Having experienced his parents’ (i.e. Edna and Bud) abusive marriage and the destructive aftermath of its dissolution, marriage might not have been something Hyde believed it. That’s not to say he didn’t believe in living his life committed to the one he was in love with.
If Jackie had become just a “right now” girl to Hyde instead of the right girl for him (as evidenced in season 5), her ultimatum/leaving would affect him very little. He would’ve had a similar reaction as Jerry did on the Seinfeld episode “The Opposite” when his girlfriend of the moment dumped him.
Jerry: Nah, that’s fine. No problem. I’ll meet somebody else. It’s fine. Anyway, it’s been really nice dating you for a while. And … good luck!
Instead, Jackie’s ultimatum – and leaving before he could propose – made Hyde “wish he were dead”. It speaks volumes about how much she means to him.
