I don't usually do these but I felt like I drew so little this year I was curious to see if I could fill one lol. It was a rough year I'm hoping next year is better, I want to dedicate more time to personal art and improvement.

#Neon Ocean Art#Art of 2023#[ I'm actually rather surprised I managed to full this lol#I hit a lot of mental lows this year regarding art#this was also the year I had to mostly set art aside for a day job#which really wasn't easy#I'd felt like I failed in some way being unable to support myself on art like some of my peers#but I drew some of my all time favorite art pieces this year and that I'm very proud of#next year I really want to focus on personal art and stuff I wanna draw#as well as improving my skills as I usually feel rather dissatisfied with my work#I'm glad I no longer need to rely on art for my income so i'm hoping that freedom will give me room to grow more ]

Hot take, I really don’t think we should assign human morals onto animals and call them bad or evil. Fishblr has internalised this idea really well with sharks, and I think that’s good! Sharks don’t deserve all the fearmongering they suffer from in media. But… can we please remember to extend this to other animals too? Even to intelligent animals like dolphins (most commonly bottlenose dolphins) and orcas. It seems to be a counter to pop culture’s tendency to show dolphins as complete angels when they partake in some messed up things, but like…. Dolphins are still animals? They may be able to recognize themselves in mirrors and they may have language and culture and know how to use tools but their intelligence is still on the level of a human child (and how empathetic are those!!??). I see people talk about how evil dolphins are but I never see people talking about other animals the same way, like, why aren’t sea otters and their “evilness” the topic of discussion? :/

Tbh Kuvira's redemption kinda ruined her character for me. I'm not opposed to it and if it was done better I'd probably adore it. But looking purely at what we got, I'd much rather perfer her as a villain we feel sorry for.

Literally the main reason I was so put off of her for years because it’s just was handled so poorly, I’m not opposed to the idea in itself but condensing it down to only 3 comics and ignoring some of the worse things she’s done and giving her house arrest for war crimes really killed me inside, I’m not a kuvira hater I find her really interesting but god did that leave a sour taste in my mouth for like the past 4 years lol

They should have just let the fan fic writers into the room and let them do their thing

#reblog#LoK#[ as a Kuvira enjoyer yeah I hate Ruins of the Empire so much#it's just so bad#it pulls so much nonsense out of thin air and chooses to not explain any of it#like the whole thing with Kuvira almost killing her mom as a child#why would you bring that up in one sentence and then never mention it again or explain it?#they gave Kuvira's parents a genuine reason to be afraid of her#when her whole thing is that her parents threw her away bc they didn't want her#also acting like Kuvira didn't know how bad the reeducation camps were when she threatened Bolin with sending him to one#like come on it's so obvious that everything in ruins was thought of on the spot and never considered for the actual show#I fully believe Ruins was written as damage control because of Kuvira's popularity and they wanted to try and scrub her somewhat clean#and don't even get me started on Baatar omg#the only good things about Ruins is that Lokhelle gave Baatar the width of his shoulders back and Kuvira saying she did genuinely love him#everything else just pisses me off lol ]

It is dark and cold and wet and miserable and I have a warm dark quiet hideaway full of food and drinking water that is safe from interlopers and for some ungodly reason instead of holing up there to conserve my energy, I am standing up in a brightly lit beige room for several hours. A possum wouldn't put up with this shit. I'm going to bite someone
