You know what I’d really like? A cheeseburger. — Yeah, we can do a cheeseburger. — A real cheeseburger. — I’ll make you a very good, very traditional cheeseburger. — I don’t think you can. — I’ll make you feel as if you’re eating the first cheeseburger you ever ate. The cheap one your parents could barely afford.

These new tracks are so poorly planned in terms of safety, but look there is a fake sea with actual yacths! Oh you hit the wall in a 51g crash? Your neck hurt because there wasn't a proper barrier, don't sweat it you are wearing the right underwear! And make sure to take out your piercing, we'll think about some more entertainment!

The scene where Peter Parker’s face is revealed in Spider Man 2, he passes out, and is lifted to safety by a bunch of New York strangers and a couple of kids give him back his mask and tell him “we won’t tell nobody” FOLLOWED BY those same strangers standing up to Doc Ock and putting themselves in harm’s way to protect Peter… and why?

Because he’s the fucking people’s hero. He’s struggling to pay rent, he’s running into fiery building to save a child. He and Aunt May are freaking out over $20…

VERSUS

Trust fund billionaire backed sugar baby MCU!Peter? Of course the public fucking hates him. Like yes, Jake Gyllenhaal set him up but look at how quickly people run to #cancel the rich and famous. But Tony’s not here to pay away his infamy. So he’s gotta go to a WIZARD to fix all this shit. 🙄🙄🙄

okay so here is the thing about mcu wanda, pietro, sokovia, elizabeth olsen and why wanda and pietro's whole characters (wanda's especially) has been portrayed wrong since age of ultron

let's start with how marvel whitewashed the maximoff twins. as you may know, and if you don't, wanda maximoff is originally a roma jewish woman from serbia. both her and pietro are roma. mcu whitewashed them and erased their identities and their origins by casting elizabeth olsen and aaron taylor johnson (both white people) to play wanda and pietro.

them being roma jewish was the biggest part of their characters and their entire story.

mcu wanda and pietro were turned into a totally different people. they joined a n*zi organization. wanda's character in mcu is everything comics wanda stood against for. mcu wanda tortured innocent people, PURPOSELY! she runs away from her responsibilities. she was turned into a little coward who doesn't care about anything but her own ass since age of ultron.

that's totally opposite of what comics wanda is! yes, wanda is anti-hero in both comics and mcu, but the difference is that comics wanda actually realises her mistakes and takes the responsibility. mcu wanda never did that.

her entire character has been turned into a joke in mcu. the scarlet witch name is connected to her romani mother, and yet mcu used it and made up a whole new history of that name.

on the top of that, marvel's show, wandavision had a lot of racist and stereotypical lines which are disrespectful to romani people.

elizabeth olsen has used the g-slur to describe wanda's costume multiple times in interviews, and even after being warned it's a slur, she hasn't stopped and she never apologised for using it.

she was also xenophobic to serbia. she disrespected and spread ignorance about serbian culture and history while playing a character who's originally from serbia. never apologised for it either.

meanwhile, after all this, people keep supporting and defending her behaviour.

what's wrong with sokovia plot?

sokovia is not a fictional place in mcu like wakanda, it's a place based on real life events. the bombing of yugoslavia. this is so problematic and disrespectful and here is why:

take a look at this thread by @dragazie on instagram

here is one of the tumblr posts explaining this situation:

please be aware that this whole sokovian plot, mcu wanda and pietro's whitewashing is problematic! you SHOULD NOT support this in any way. if you do, you are the part of the problem.

can we acknowledge how now TWICE in comics, peggy carter has served as a character that intentionally brings steve down?

- first in house of m, where she outright mocks him for defending mutants, not joining shield, and giving up being cap to be an astronaut ( which is his *one* dream ), saying that he " embarrassed himself in front of the whole senate " by doing so

- and now in united states of captain america #4, where hate monger actively turns into HER to try and kill steve's spirit, and uses her to call him a " grown man - an elderly man - still dressing up like a child " and then says " you embarrass me. you embarrass this country. "

i really do hate this woman. i know the second one isn't actually her but the fact that even though steve KNOWS it's hate monger, it still works, says a lot. paints a very nasty picture of margaret carter, not that any of her other appearances have done anything BUT that.

doesn't even include cap vol9 confirming that even if she did have feelings for steve, she was basically using him their entire " relationship " and playing him for a fool to keep him - a " weapon " as they call it - from " falling into the wrong hands. "

makes me wonder if the only reason sharon actually cares about her is because she raised her and there's loyalty there rather than genuine respect. getting the feeling she probably wasn't the most caring or kind parental figure.

and yet the mcu keeps trying to make her some perfect woman. sick and tired of it.

dc villains: really interesting characters with deep and well written backstories and personalities who are fleshed so much that they can stand as their own characters and have their own stories without even needing an evil plan or a hero to defeat

marvel villains: what if this character was a different colour and evil

Spiderman no way home having all of its hype in the time leading up to the movie’s release with all of the speculation around the cameos. And then the hype completely dying out not long after it’s theatrical release. On top of heavy filmmaking criticism against it when the streaming version dropped. It’s been a few months since it released and no one talks about it anymore except to copy and paste the same memes, and argue over whether it was an actually good movie or just a superficial and meaningless money making scheme.

Vs the batman having most of its hype come after the actual release of the movie. With more and more people talking about it as time goes on, especially now that the streaming version dropped. More people are seeing it and more people are talking about the filmmaking and story.

I’m sure you see where I’m going with this

“He renamed my life’s work “BARF.” I told him it was a mistake, that my technology could change the world. And then he fired me. Said I was unstable.”

Not to beat on a dead horse, but uh… according to Title 1 of the Americans with Disabilities Act, you’re not allowed to fire someone for that.

Although the idea of one of his employees creating a tool that can be used for therapy, and Tony stealing it, only using it for himself, and then illegally firing the employee for being mentally ill does kind of tickle the old funny bone.

Made myself mad. The Maximoffs were named after an actual Romani person, and the mcu replaced Pietro's name — one of, if not the only sign of their heritage they retained in the movies — with a boner joke. I am actually seeing red right now

so i watched spider-man no way home for the first time and idk it just feels like it kinda piggybacked off of into the spider verse tbh....no originality. miles is jon watts number 1 source of inspo and that bothers me cus he just makes a few changes and gets all the credit like hes coming up with this stuff.... and all the mentions and nods towards miles and a black spiderman bothers me cus the mcu never gave a shit about him.

I know it's over but like the disappointment I felt when tom holland did that interview about how he drunkenly saved spiderman like he really wants spiderman to be ironman 2.0 that really upsets me because that's not who spiderman is and it kinda makes it seem tom cares more about disney mcu than the character itself and that makes me sad

It was really disappointing. And sad on top of it all. Like... what a sad brag. It's like "my girlfriend dumped me for being a dumbass and I drunk called her crying one night and she took me back." That's what his whole interview about trying to get his job back sounded like.

I don't think for a second that it was him that made that happen, because I'm beyond positive that Disney was in negotiations with Sony the moment their original deal fell through, because they couldn't just lose Spiderman back to Disney and risk not making any extra money off of that character. Tom's drunken call was just a nicely timed and convenient sob story that makes Sony seem like the bad guy in this situation.

(Note: I am very anti Disney lately, but it should be noted that Sony is also a corporate monster and they're both villains in the grand scheme of things.)

To make matters worse, Tom clearly had never read a Spiderman comic in his life, or probably even seen the Maguire or Garfield movies, because his iteration in the MCU is as far away as you can get from who Peter Parker is while still calling him Peter Parker. The saddest part of the whole thing is that from the moment he appeared in Civil War, that's the only version of this character that people will remember. An entire generation goes on and on about how he's "the best Spiderman ever" despite knowing absolutely nothing about what Spiderman stands for. And that's not even getting into the whole stealing the story of Miles Morales issue.

To think, once upon a time I was really excited to see some of my favorite comic characters on the big screen. And here we are a decade later, watching Marvel Studios and Disney butcher and cannibalize decades worth of stories into two or three movies that are only two hours a piece. I can only imagine what horrible things are in store for characters I actively follow from the comics.

I’m getting slightly annoyed at the implication that Tom Holland is the innocent victim here. I’m sorry but you can fuck right off with that. He was only contractually obligated to do one more Iron Boy film and one more crossover. That’s it. No one forced him to sign a contract to do three more films. He’s not a vulnerable little bunny rabbit. He’s a grown man making a conscious choice to continue playing a character he doesn’t understand or even like because he only cares about the money.

So I’m not really anti mcu but going to post in this tag because I do have some post NWH thoughts. So I obviously loved Tobey and Andrew returning, as well as Charlie Cox, and the OG villains, those were certainly the best parts of the movie but I do have to wonder, was this movie all that great, or does Marvel want us to feel that it was? The more time I’ve spent thinking about it since December, throwing Tobey and Andrew in the movie seems like a total cash grab, and honestly with the numbers the movie made it certainly worked. I doubt that movie would have made that same amount without those two in the film. Perhaps Marvel and Sony needed to place Tobey and Andrew in there to sell Tom Holland’s Spidey more because older audiences like myself personally just couldn’t connect with his character. The timing seems odd considering it was Holland’s final Spidey film but obviously the success of the film seems to make certain that Holland will return in the future. I’m just stuck on thinking was NWH actually a great movie, or did it pull one of the greatest cash grab stunts in movie history ?

me, just trying to take a damn nap:

my brain: LOKI IS A CHARACTER WHO HAS DIED MANY TIMES, BUT HIS OWN SERIES MAY BE HIS MOST BRUTAL CHARACTER ASSASINATION YET
