this blog is dead but melanie martinez was accused of raping someone last night and so i feel kinda obligated to make a post on it. my friend (i wont tag them bc idk if theyd be ok w that) had a breakdown over this, and i almost did as well. they made a few posts on it, saying its ok to be upset, to feel betrayed. however,,,,,, a few assholes decided to go "but what about the victim !1!1!2(_92!!-71?1910!!! i cant believe ur a heartless bastard who doesnt give a shit abt the victim smh how dare u be upset" and i just wanna say that we all understand that the victim is more important than us. however, this DOESN'T mean that we cant be sad. melanie has helped us through some tough times, and we feel betrayed. the victim is the most important person right now, yes. we aren't trying to make this about ourselves. we're just simply trying to take a moment to wrap our minds around the fact that someone we idolize did this.
ALSO @ the people who are saying shit like "shes always been horrible i cant believe that ur just now realizing it" or "i never liked her anyway die bitch rot in hell lol": please fuck off because some of us actually liked her and we're trying our best to keep it together

Tbh I never thought I'd see the day where pewdiepie was more problematic than Shane Dawson, but here we are. (Not to take away from the stupid shit Shane has done, though). It's almost like Youtubers are just on some other kinda level where realty doesn't exist.
The only unproblematic gaming youtuber I can think of with over 1 million subs is Stacyplays, a woc. This is a serious problem I could talk about forever, so I’ll just give a condensed version. Wealth and fame make people think they’re invincible. So, they say what they think. This can be good, but mostly it just benefits bigots. I think that’s why there have been so many youtube scandals lately, the bigger an industry becomes the more power people in it feel.
