What's poppin' in these simblr streets?
sims summit tl;dr
here’s what they announced for ts4:
- updated babies coming early 2023
- two new expansion packs in 2023 coming with two new worlds, both of which look like cities
- monthly updates continuing through 2023
- new platform for official mod/cc integration through overwolf/curseforge
- teases and concept art of new build/buy and gameplay content like dentures, bikes for kids, etc.
- project rene, the “next generation” of the sims, is in very early development stages, will be both single and multiplayer, and will have cross-platform capabilities
paralives got ea scareddddd
i miss when the sims was about big tits, fast cars and otherworldly terror.
boy do i love early access cc that looks like slightly edited iterations of previously released early access cc. makes my nipples hard.
Every time i see people trying to regulate how other people play with digital clay I start to question my own sanity
On an extra note: a bunch of people message me asking if they can SIMPLY flip my content. Like: "hey this hairstyle looks a lot like mine, but i part my hair to the left. Can i flip the mesh so it looks like my own hair?"
This is why i advocate for people making and messing up with the same mesh a dozen of times, bc sometimes there will be ONE STREAK they think it’s missing from the mesh and they need that, and they want to share that. The capitalism is SO deep in our minds that we complain about THIS alongside with people who try to make money OVER THIS. There's a difference between making a bunch of the same hair over and over every month and putting it behind a paywall or early access and making a bunch of the same hair for variety JUST FOR FUN.
I know it may look OBVIOUS but seeing people complain over small creators who are simply having fun because they edited the same mesh 3 times. Things are getting mixed here.
People you should be holding accountable: creators who are STILL doing it for the money after the paywall issue.
People you should NOT be holding accountable: creators who are playing with clay for free so they can have variety and posting them for free.
this is how it starts. the day long tumblr vague-blogging wars. this is is how it fucking starts.
people make a simple and benign comment, others agree and have a discussion on it. it's always civil. one person who took slight with what's being said or did not understand what's being said will take a small bit of that conversation, twist it out of context and now that simple discussion is an attack. they make a snarky comment or snarky vagueblog and assert we're all saying a thing no one said or implied to their thousands of followers. those thousand others get involved, no one reads the original post and just makes their own long essay because everyone must be witnessed and a shitty game of telephone game ensues. all that snowballs into a day-long DISCOURSE (read: argument) over nothing. goal posts shift and you lot forget about all this until the next argument. this is how it fucking starts.
i'm nipping this shit in the bud now.
a) i originally made that video (that 2 of your hairs are in) 9 months ago as a mild jokey commentary to note how many people remixed that one hair and how i wish creators would give the natural hairs ea has created the same treatment. literally wish black hair and the potential it has inspired y'all the same way as a mid length middle part wavy but ah suh it go.
b) the only reason why that video came up again is that i brought up again in a different context on THIS POST. no one was talking about free creators who remix hairs on that post. the vibe was more about pay creators that do the same amount of work (less in most cases) and paywall it for a month or two. we agree on that. the ensuing posts about how bad early access has gotten followed. all those posts were clear and direct with their intentions too. not one word about regulation. there were other posts about how bad early access has gotten and simkoos just asking "what's the standard here". where does regulation come in again?
c) i don't think anyone cares if it's 40+ remixes of the same hair. outdoor retreat has the same treatment with some of the hairs. people edit hairs here all the time. it's fine! creativity does not exist in a vacuum and it's fine to be inspired by others. we agree on that! however, people were commenting that it's depressing state of affairs that the same low effort and simple edits of game assets are now coming with a month-long paywall and price tag of 5-10 dollars each. not a word about regulation here either.
d) i understand that creators paywall quick mesh edits because they've chained themselves to an extremely stressful and shitty monthly content creation model and not many of them are mentally equipped to work that way. not many are and it's an exhausting and pointless grind! creators are competing with one another and are trying to be first and not best. people get burnt out and derivative edits like this will happen to just finish the set or make that month's money. however, people commenting on that sad state of affairs along with how this trend of quick edits/add-ons/conversions over and over again have resulted in extreme stagnation with regards to creativity is again, not regulation.
i personally do not like having to take time out my day to break down context on here because people are too afraid to talk to others directly. but please understand, i'm trying to avoid a weekly simblr discourse in the holy month of simtober before simblreen ok?!
enjoy your day!
i just want all you freaking weenies know that we saw you having a fucking meltdown over this early access stuff and then immediately putting your tiers back up after telling people to fuck off
We are a bunch of entitled losers until it’s time for us to give you money?
Just saw the WILDEST post on my dash about this new CC policy. Some of ya'll need to take a few deep breaths. My goodness.
Ya know we can hate ea and hate the monetization of our hobby at the same time. Just sayin.
95% of me “getting back into playing sims” is me downloading 7GB worth of CC and not playing. lol
8, 12 and 13.
8. First video game you remember playing?
I think it would be Street Fighter vs SNK 2 on PS2. My brother always kicked my ass though. But lowkey he was cheating cause he'd always stick my character to the corner of the screen and spam combos. It wasn't fair.
12. Most embarrassing gaming moment? Probably when I was poorly playing COD with my younger brother and his girlfriend and she was down. And I walked past her about 3 plus times looking for her and failed to revive her. My brother ended up getting to her in time but lol. This is why I don't play those coop games. 13. Scariest video game you’ve played? NGL, I avoid scary games. LOL. But I have played a little but of Resident evil and it's not for me!
Male CC is still hard to come by.
Damn, it’s been a while. Kinda wanna play sims again, but I’d probably just be TS4 Base game cause I ain’t bout to do all that stuff with my new laptop to get all the expansions.
Been watching a lot of sims youtube videos the last few weeks I’m feeling nostalgic.
