in life updates: decided to enroll in a notoriously difficult class this semester. civil law is my achilles heel, and i also wanted to force myself into better study habits and time management. last week, i took the midterm and braced myself for a fail: despite improvements in the way i prepared for class and spoke during cold calls, i'd still been struggling over the semester. after the exam ended, i went and checked the schedule for dropping classes. one week later. dear reader, i passed.

did some torts studying outside today because the only time I’ve left my apartment in the past week has been to get food and take my contracts final (which was a hot mess express but life goes on). I hope everyone is doing well during exams season! Remember to check in with your body and do what you need to do to take care of yourself, because nothing is as serious as your mental and physical health. You got this. You’re doing great just by being here 🤍

haven't posted in a while! so here's a quick recap of what happened in the last few months 🪷

• transitioned to on-site classes. it was exhausting yet fun at the same time bc i got to romanticize my last few weeks in college

• graduated last month! w latin honors 🎓🥉

• applied to only the top 2 law schools in the country (ateneo law and up law) and got accepted into both!

• im now an incoming 1L and my classes start in september :)

so many ups and downs but i'm just so happy to close another chapter of my life and open a new one. it's surreal to think that i started this blog when I was in Grade 11 and now i'm off to law school 🥹

can't wait to share my law school journey with u lovely people 🤍 i'm sure it would be rough but, like the saying goes—

nothing worth having comes easy.

hope u guys stick around for another 4 years ⚖️

i struggle getting things done on some days. it’s very hard. but i think of how lapsing into habits or behaviors that you thought you’d overgrown is often seen as regressing— but i’ve come to see it as a natural cyclic part of life. like spring and winter, death and rebirth.

112720. happy thanksgiving break (if you've got one!) — i've got a lot to be grateful for this year, and it's nice to look back on it all. otherwise, there's still plenty of work— spent the morning rereading some stuff for my political philosophy class. rousseau never fails to confuse me :P

Yay for four day weekends! I got to sleep in this morning (which is a rare but very welcome occurrence), after watching a concert from my living room last night 🎉 And now I have two more days to relax and indulge in self care 🛀🏻

you deserve people who listen to you ramble. you deserve people who love it when you’re excited, when you’re happy. you deserve people who check up on you and wish to see you well, people who not only accept you for who you are - but rejoice in it.

The problem with academia is the idea of perfection. The idea that our grades and intelligence define our worth. That if we aren’t perfect we don’t know who we are. I see this culture at my school all the time. The competition for the best grades, for the most work. Kids burn out all the time because we are so invested in what school thinks we need to know rather than what we want to learn. Take a break from your school work and care about something you want to care about, not what they tell you to care about. School doesnt create individuals, so we have to become individuals all by ourselves

Okay real talk. Today I got some disappointing news in the morning and I felt super disheartened. I was about to go to work and was feeling super crap but my partner sat me down, told me good things were going to come my way and psyched me up for the day. I repeated that to myself, put my fun pants on, off I went, and had a bloody good day !!!! I got some really exciting news about a PhD, had some beautiful interactions and had a great day at work!

That’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: On a good day I recognise that mindset has more power on the way my day goes than on a bad day 🌝

for those who do not love their education deeply
  • you are not 'spoilt'
  • you are not 'wasting' anything or anyone's time
  • the educational system is awful & you have every right to speak out against it
  • a teacher must teach you, but they must also entertain and encourage you. if they do not, that is out of your control
  • most dark academics are making the best of a bad situation
  • your mental health matters more than grades
  • not every subject will thrill & excite you. not enjoying literature, poetry or art doesn't make you a 'fake' academic
  • you can enjoy a subject without studying it & you have every right to say you enjoy it
  • barely passing or failing a course is not the end of the world. you will get better, whether that means continuing the course or dropping it for your true passion
  • sometimes you're not good at something, even if you love it. don't sacrifice your mental & physical health to pass a course that you find impossible, but let yourself enjoy it if you can
  • remember your worth is not in your grades.
