Getting sooo close to release. Definitely just a few weeks away right now. Also, look! Achievements! =D

The game is currently waiting on Steam's review process, and then...👀

And if you haven't wishlisted GS on Steam...noooow's a good time!

Why wishlist the game? Weeell. Algorithms!

Seriously, wishlists really help a game's placement in the algorithms so if there's a game you are interested in, it's always good to wislist it because it's a metric Steam does look at when figuring out who to show your game to!

Anyway, this is just a quick little check in to let everyone know where we are in the process.

We are planning to release this game by the end of the month. I don't want to give an exact date because Steam's process can always throw a wrench into things if the review process is longer (or even shorter) than anticipated.

I will be able to post an exact date as soon as the game is approved though! But it is definitely...soon!

thinking about how orpheus turning to look back at eurydice isn’t a sign of mortal frailness but a sign of love

“Eurydice, dying now a second time, uttered no complaint against her husband. What was there to complain of, but that she had been loved?” ― Ovid, Metamorphoses

This is true no matter the version you’re reading.

1. Eurydice trips and Orpheus turns to help her because he loves her.

2. Orpheus cannot hear Eurydice behind him, and fearing that he’s been tricked, turns to make sure she’s there.

3. Orpheus makes it out of the Underworld, and so full of love and excitement to be with Eurydice, turns to embrace her, forgetting that they both need to be out of the Underworld.

No matter what happens in the story, Orpheus loses Eurydice because his love for her compels him to look.

Orpheus, I can forgive you, then, There’s not a soul alive who wouldn’t have looked back

The Descent, by Tyler King

Don’t forget Gluck’s opera, where Eurydice doesn’t know Orpheus is forbidden to look back, Orpheus is also forbidden to tell her, she assumes he must not love her anymore, and Orpheus finally looks back to reassure her of his love because he can’t bear her anguish.

In that version in particular, but possibly in all retellings, a part of us wants Orpheus to look back, because his failure proves his love.

I’d be the voice that urged Orpheus When her body was found I’d be the choiceless hope in grief That drove him underground I’d be the dreadful need in the devotee That made him turn around (Hey ya) And I’d be the immediate forgiveness In Eurydice

Your life isn’t going how you’d hoped. Despite having big plans when you graduated, you’re stuck in a dead end job and a crappy flat with zero romantic life to speak of. All until a friend convinces you to join the cast of a new reality TV show.
The premise is simple: 12 singles are sent to a villa on a tropical island and they live there together for a month. After 28 days, the couple who is voted by the other islanders as being most likely to withstand the test of time will win £500,000. In addition, the couple with the highest body count will win £500,000. Total prize pool? £1,000,000.
In this context, “body count” refers to how many people you’ve slept with… right? Well, that’s what you think when you sign your contract. Turns out, though, that not all of your fellow cast members will be using that definition to get to the prize.
Fall in love, win big money, solve some murders and try to stay alive.

Chapter One of Body Count is now available to play on Dashingdon!

  • Create your MC, from their appearance to their personality to their motives for participating in the show.
  • Meet the on site production team and 9 of your fellow cast members.
  • Get your flirt on, keep it friendly or dissolve into panic as you venture out on some speed dates.
  • Note: Body Count is strictly 18+
Word Count: 68,000 | Average Playthrough: 16,288

I'm dumb, hold on, we can cheat on in both books, or only in the second one?

Cheating mechanics will be in place for Book 1! won't get into it, but cheating isn't really a thing for Book 2. unless you're doing the whole 'ruining my marriage for someone I went to high school with' thing 😅

Novus, a sci-fi work of interactive fiction.

One night, you are woken from your dreams as the ground below your humble farmhouse trembles. Your window frames smoke rising beyond the beanstalk field. Running on fumes of your own, ladled in concern, you venture outside until you come across a crash site… guarded by a heavily armed humanoid creature.
Your vision fades to black.
Know this, young one: your journey has only just begun.

Features.

  • Customizable MC — Name, pronouns, appearance, personality.
  • Choose the status of your relationship with your family and friends from home. Do you miss them? Do they miss you?
  • Your choices and your attitude both affect the plot. Become accustomed to life as a captive resident on an extraterrestrial spacecraft, live in fear of those inhabiting it, fight the system holding you back, or simply Vibe™.
  • Make enemies, form lasting friendships with and/or romance any of 4 different beings from beyond Earth — Alixer (he/him), Kaelia (she/her), Kase (she/him) and Brisea (they/them). RO posts coming soon.
  • Whether or not you return to Earth, well… that is out of your hands.
Demo — In the works.

Wanna be more involved with the IF community?

Hello everyone! After discussing with the mods and consulting with several authors, we’ve decided to branch the community more openly!

We have set up a public Discord server in the hopes of promoting the connectivity within the IF community, as well as supporting it in a more inclusive and active way by having a space for readers, creatives and game developers alike to come together and chat!

The server itself will act partly as a directory for game developers to advertise their IFs, promote their own servers and promote their calls for feedback, as well as links you can use to support them!

The server isn’t exclusive to a specific platform or coding language; everyone involved, and interested in being involved, in the IF community is welcome.

As a note for game developers - one of our moderators has created a server specifically for IF game developers to come together, support one another, provide tips and tricks for coding languages and potentially become writer buddies to help!

If you are interested, please send a private message to @cruzwriting !

Beta testers needed!!

Hi everyone! I am officially looking for beta testers for An Elemental Existence (previously What a Brilliant Existence!). This new version will be very different from the OG ChoiceScript one, and I am definitely going to need some feedback!

What I’m looking for:

  • People to review An Elemental Existence’s scripts. These scripts contain coding, but I’d only need you to give me feedback on the content itself, and not anything involving coding (bugs, for example). I’ll also explain any part of the script that’s confusing due to code (it’s written in a very simple language, don’t worry);
  • Preferably, people who have played What a Brilliant Existence! before. This new version is being transferred to a more visual platform with much shorter episodes (2k-2.5k words each at most), and so I’d like people who understand the original story and my own writing so I can get more useful feedback.

I can’t give out many details, but please message me if you’re interested, and I’ll explain it better and will answer any questions! I currently have one episode up for beta testing, and a second one coming soon.

Reblogs are very much appreciated! Thanks! 💘
