Helping Sid be more involved in the Kembleford Community would include:
•he doesn’t mind doing the odd thing to help a community event, he might for example buy cakes from the fayre, or pay and play splat the rat. But never anything more. He’s always on the fringes of the community.
•you make it your mission to make him more involved, because you want to help him realise that Kembleford is his home and the people that live there are his family and friends.
•so you sign him up for an audition to be in the a production of Jack and the Bean Stalk that was going to be put on for the primary school students as a treat.
•he wasn’t initially very fond of the idea, but then you made it a game, a competition. It brought out his cocky side.
•just before he went on stage he told you to make sure that the costume for Jack would fit him, so sure was he that he’d win the lead part.
•to be fair he did do quite well on stage, he had good presence and even made the Director laugh.
•it was a shock then when he read the cast list and saw that he was ‘Daisy’ the cow.
•he didn’t find it amusing and he didn’t find your laughter very funny either.
•when it came to the day of the performance for the school he complained every single steps of the way to the theatre. And he continued to grumble as you helped him into the cow costume.
•before you put the head on you told him how proud of him you were and how he’d be the best cow that’s ever been seen on the stage. He smiled then.
•you helped him put the head on and once it was in place you pressed a kiss to the cows forehead before whispering that he’s the prettiest cow you’ve ever seen. He moo’s in response.
•in the end Sid thoroughly enjoyed his time as Daisy, he liked making all the kids laugh. But the icing on the cake was the way that you kissed him when he came off stage and got out of his costume, he was utterly under your spell.
