#i absolutely fucking love this scene #like it really hammers (lmao pardon the pun) home #how grossly loki miscalculated relationship betwen thor and odin #and how genuinely shocked he is by the severity of thor’s punishment #loki’s has always seen thor’s status as ‘the favourite child’ as something to be envious of #he genuinely thought that thor could do no wrong in odin’s eyes while loki himself could never do enough to be considered equal #at that point loki honestly believed thor would get away with this with no more than a slap on the wrist #whereas thor’s relationship with odin is far more complex than that#he’s a golden child only when he obeys blindly #odin loves his sons but first and foremost loves them as an investment #thor is his heir his re-branding from warlord to ‘benevolent king’ #loki is his security deposit for jotunheim #he pays more attention to thor because thor is his immediate image #thor can disappoint him while loki can’t #and to loki looking on from the sidelines that’s what love looks like (via)

  • Looking up from the book in his hands, Loki’s eyebrows pressed together, a much more concerned look displayed the features of his face and his eyes locked onto yours…”What?”
  • “Why do you love me?” You repeated, eyes tearing up and that familiar pang in your throat rising
