Slight adjustment to my commission post. I got married last autumn, so some things in my client examples will be signed with my maiden name, and others with my married name. Also the change to Discord's usernames made the old one incorrect. It's literalghost across the board now!

the wasp-mimic mantisfly (Climaciella brunnea) is not only one of the coolest bugs out there but can also be surprisingly calm and friendly, at least if you charm it with the offering of a delicious blood-filled mosquito

It's culturally overlooked but inherently cool not only for all the same reasons as a mantis, but unlike mantises these insects have complete metamorphosis with a larval stage, and the larval mantidfly is a brood parasitoid of wolf spiders :)
They are related to lacewings and antlions!
Also what's known as a "walking pupa," which is exactly what it sounds like!
They never simmer down!
