Vaggie and Charlie are not the "starightest" lesbians you all just associate the lgbt community with oversexualization and abusive behavior. That's a you problem. Leave my favorite vanilla lesbians alone.

Do people know about Vocational Rehab? If you're USAmerican they have this in every state.

It's a program that helps disabled folks access education, training, and employment. For FREE.

You only have to be disabled to qualify (autism, ADHD, mental illness, physical illness, etc) and they cover very broad categories of disability. You do NOT have to be officially diagnosed yet when you walk in - they will even help pay for your diagnosis if you are struggling w disability.

I applied with my suspected autism and fibromyalgia, and they paid for 100% of my formal autism assessment.

Once your disability is established they will give you career counseling to learn about your interests and skills, and depending on the plan you create with your caseworker they will then help with school or finding employment. They paid for 100% of my college tuition and books, and even provided a laptop for me to use.

You do not have to pay anything for this program. If you make above a certain income, you will have to contribute to educational costs but will still receive assistance.

They will also help with the cost of things like mental health counseling while you work towards your goals, clothing for interviews, etc.

They cannot discriminate based on your race, gender, or sexual orientation.

They won't make you do excessive meetings.

They will allow you to do meetings with your caseworker remotely.

They will not drug test you.

They want you to succeed.

I'm sure that individual experiences vary but my caseworker was exceptionally easy to work with and very kind.

Vocational Rehab is a phenomenal resource every disabled person should be aware of. Here is the list of offices in every state:

Anonymous asked:

who are YOU to judge AI art? you do know artificial intelligence has the capability to be sentient and possess a soul, right?

one day, many years from now, when the robots rightfully fight for their own rights as conscious beings with souls, people like you are gonna be looked at as examples of hateful bigots who were on the wrong side of history.

do better, aiphobe.

Being inclusive with your reader insert fic is a kindness. It tells people of color (poc) that you are considering someone who does not look like you in your fic. It shows love and dedication to our craft. It tells poc that they belong here too and they can see themselves in your story.

Poc aren’t look for activism in fic, we know fandom isn’t that serious, but we should be able to have that same level of escapism when we turn to fic and fandom. We belong here too. This space is for everyone, not just one group of people.

Just to give a few examples of how simple it can be: say “skin warmed” instead of blushed, say “cradled your head” instead of running fingers through hair, say “angles yourself to kiss” instead of standing on tiptoes, use italics to indicate Spanish to take out a throwaway line of “you didn’t understand Spanish” things like that. Small changes that do not impact the fic at all but make a world of difference in inclusivity!

And for anything you can’t/don’t want to change, simply add warning in the beginning. Things like hair descriptors, anything reader might wear, some backstory for reader (especially involving family or where the story is set), readers job, things like that. A lot of times just having that heads up before the fic makes a world of difference!

And one example of kindness we as writers always worked to change: until recently (just a couple years ago) it wasn’t common to label the gender of the reader. But those who aren’t female asked writers to label it so they know which to read and which to avoid, and now it’s common to label the gender/pronouns of the reader. So it is possible! It just takes effort! And I’m a writer myself so I know it can be done!

We can pretend to be a bartender or a bounty hunter or an actress or anything else. But we shouldn’t have to imagine we’re a white one.

Right, considering the current state of corporate politics on this site, and that it seems that only those affected seem to be actively speaking on the matter, it is up to I, the only fucking cishet on tumblr, to drag this out to a wider audience.

REBLOG IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS A TRANSFEM SAFE SPACE.

We need to show these higher ups how much we truly value them.

for those unaware

there's currently a massive wave of transmisogyny(specifically aimed at trans women, if i have to make that clear) that is composed of

  • staff banning multiple transfem users with no explanation and deleting every image they've ever posted with the claim that they violated TOS. this is goes from pictures of your face at different points of your transition to a silly meme you may have posted. the purpose is to wipe all evidence of your existence clean from tumblr.
  • terfs and transmisogynists (typically those who espouse that 'transandrophobia' or 'transmisandry' for the bolder transmisogynists out there; think of it like the trans edition of the men's rights activist movement) are currently teaming up to mass-report trans women on this site, which gives staff an excuse to ban a trans woman then refuse to explain why the trans woman in question was banned
  • terfs (and let's be real, transmisogynists also) are going to multiple trans peoples' ask inboxes to spread loose rumors about trans women; for instance, this post, which was aimed at a friend of mine, avery. this is being done with the intent of socially isolating specific trans women with the intent of causing lasting damage to our lives.
  • on top of all of this, the transmisogynists have revived a slur from the fucking middle ages, "Baeddel," specifically to use it on trans women. this is in the midst of a growing anti-transfem movement within the transmasc portion of the community.

as a trans woman, i have to ask all of you to be extremely careful about what action you take regarding asks you get spreading rumors about people. if the person that's being accused is a trans woman, what you've been sent is more than likely a lie, and almost 100% part of a targeted hate campaign. if you see someone posting under the transandrophobia or transmisandry tags in your feed, careful! you've got someone in your feed that really doesn't like trans women!

i would also advise turning off anons, as i have, whether you're a trans woman or not. hopefully needing to show their faces will mitigate their ability to harm us.

and, on a more personal note... show the trans women in your life some care. shit's rough for us these days.

Normies talking about getting whiplash from recipe blogs. You know nothing

[ID: An AO3 author’s note reading, “Sorry for vanishing, I did a little too much research on cults an coercive control for Damian’s arc, and then realized I was raised in a cult, and THEN I ran away to a fishing town cabin on the other side of the country and had to start learning to be a person in the real world. I also forgot how to write. But I’m learning again, so I’m back now! Have some more.” The “I” in “I was raised in a cult” is emphasized by sparking emojis, and the note is ended with heart emojis. /end ID]

Aaaand THIS is one of the many reasons why it’s not only not a bad thing to portray dark subject matter, but EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to do so!! You can learn a lot when writing, and others can learn a lot when reading! This can save lives, dudes.

I am so proud of the author though. That took multiple kinds of courage at once. Good job, author.

Hi! I’m the original author from ao3!

I want to thank everyone for such hilarious and kind additions/replies/tags on this post, they’ve been so amazing to read. They’ve meant more to me than you guys know. ❤️

I also want to add some information for anyone who wants to know more about recognizing the signs that you might be in a high control group.

High control groups can be small or large, religious or not, clubs, schools, online servers, friend groups, etc.

No human is invulnerable because we all have brains and emotions that can be played like a fiddle. Knowing the red flags can help us all keep ourselves safer!

igotout.org
BITE model of understanding thought and behavior control
International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA)
Crisis Text Line (highly recommend, especially if you’re not in a safe place to discuss things on the phone)

Please always protect yourself as best you can and never be afraid to reach out for help—even if you’re just wondering, even if you’re not sure about something.

No safe group or person will EVER be mad at you for being cautious and taking things slow, or for changing your mind at ANY point. You’re the one who gets to decide whether you join or stay with a group, no matter what they threaten or love-bomb you with.

If you’re not safe, there’s help.

If you feel trapped, there’s help.

If people are being actively hurt, good people want to listen, understand, and help.

We all deserve freedom. I’m grateful every morning I wake up that I get to live it now, even though it’s hard and I have a long way to go. Thank you for walking this journey with me, for one brief moment or for years, and helping me—and others like me—not be alone.

Take care, stay safe, and happy fanfiction reading!

👉🏽 girl help I can’t stop drawing connections between ghetto fabulous fashion and other cultural attire because it gets a bad rep in western aestheticism for being too loud, gaudy, and ostentatious despite keeping the art of adornment alive 👈🏽

like look at them. they are sisters. to me

Ghetto Fabulous is literally the name of the fashion subculture. I’m clawing at the walls in here because people are wondering why I am calling the style ghetto. According to the dictionary definition:

“…denoting or exemplifying an ostentatious or flamboyant lifestyle or style of clothing of a type associated with the hip-hop subculture.”

The fact that the word ghetto itself is a negative connotation is because of the intersection between poverty and racial minorities. But as an art it’s liberating, expressive, and campy even. As someone who was raised to distance myself from it, I love when other people are able to express themselves in the style wholeheartedly.
