after finding out a lot of friends haven't seen movies I consider formative to childhood (I grew up in South America, so they definitely had international reach!) I'm curious to know just how many haven't seen some of these... uh, let's call them children's classics.

Due to the list of potentials being massive, I'll restrict this to the 1980s, and not include Disney animated movies i can't promise there won't be further polls

(feel free to sound off in tags the ones you haven't seen, if it's more than one!)

INTERVIEWER: It’s hard, given his level of fame, to imagine [George] in such fatherly domesticity.
OLIVIA: You mean doing the school run? He did. He used to be there handing out oranges at half-time. Being a dad was something he loved. He just loved that time. - The Times (2014)
“George never held anything back, even when Dhani was really young, so they were very close, and Dhani had a clear understanding. Some of the things George told him, it was almost like he knew he might not be around later on, so he had to tell him then. So yes, it’s difficult to make your own way, but that’s what it was, and Dhani loved that guy, they were very close.” - Olivia Harrison, The Huffington Post (2014)
“He pulled out a photo of his baby son Dhani, and showed the group. Baby Dhani was dressed in a miniature Gumby suit, thanks to his Uncle Eric [Idle].” - Howard Johnson
“Olivia spends hours each day playing with Dhani, and George talks to him like an adult, and patiently answers his never-ending stream of questions.” - Liane Maxfield, The Australian Women’s Weekly (1982)
“What I saw in the father was great devotion, love, and gentleness. His whole thing was that little boy.” - Eric Estrada, People (1986)
“I’m sure he’d watched every skate film with me anyway because there’s no way he couldn’t have seen from start to finish every single Bones Brigade film. I must have sat him down and watched them all.” - Dhani Harrison
“I can’t even begin to describe how I miss him. He always supported me in everything I did. He was a very wise man and I realised at an early age I could learn a lot from him. He always gave me the right answer. But above all he was a very easy-going guy and all he wanted was to be my best friend. I’m an only child and so he shared everything with me. Of course he was very young to die and I was very young to lose a father. But there was nothing left unsaid between us.” - Dhani Harrison, The Times (2002)

Gonna need yall to stop putting Biden is Just As Bad propaganda on my dash. Had to unfollow someone because I don’t want to a start a fight with them over it, but I’m about to bite the next person who puts that shit in front of me.

If you don’t like Biden, vote in your god damn local and mid term elections for third party or further left candidates so that we get better democratic candidates for future elections. But this one is already fucking decided, and I’m NOT ending up under a Trump led dictatorship because yall value protecting your personal sense of moral purity over the collective good. Whether it offends your personal morals to vote for Biden is IRRELEVANT in the face of the alternative.

This isn’t a lesser of two evils situation. One guy sucks. The other guy is LITERALLY PLANNING TO OVERTHROW OUR DEMOCRACY AND INSTALL HIMSELF AS A PUTIN STYLE DICTATOR.

REBLOGGING THIS BECAUSE IT FUCKING HAPPENED AGAIN.

You give me a single goddamn scenario where not voting does less harm then voting for Biden.

You give me a SINGLE goddamn scenario where Trump being elected does LESS harm than Biden.

You give me even the BAREST WHISPER of an ACTUAL, ACTIONABLE FUCKING ALTERNATIVE to just VOTING FOR HARM REDUCTION.

Jesus Christ. Even if you think Biden and Trump are 100% the same, which is a fucking asinine and ignorant goddamn position to take but sure, in that case voting, at absolute worst, makes no difference!

The ONLY reason to deliberately encourage people to NOT VOTE AT ALL is to SUPPORT TRUMP.

You are blindly spreading Actual Goddamn Propaganda for a man who is frothing at the mouth to become a christofascist dictator!!

CUT IT THE FUCK OUT.

Ok but I need to talk about season 5 EP 10 or the xfiles. Scully on vacation in Maine. She's not solving crimes. Absolutely no work. Mulder keeps calling her literally kicking his feet. He's so bored without her. He keeps calling and offering suggestions for the case bc he misses her and wants any excuse to come work. Scully solves the case by thinking of the spooky answer. Mulder only suggests medical and science answers. Scully MICROWAVES A HAUNTED DOLL!! Mulder gets a pack of pencils stuck in his ceiling. He asks her to marry him. She doesn't even talk about the haunted doll.

this episode is one of the single best legacies from the "sweeps month" era of television. four months a year networks and shows would try and drag in as many eyeballs as possible and so tv shows would end up doing all kinds of stunts. one sweeps month, x-files turned the reins over to outside genre writers for two episodes (the third episode was bad blood—february of 1998 fuckin delivered).

chris carter said hey stephen king here's the keys to the kingdom write whatever x-files fanfic you want and we'll film it and stephen king went fantastic. on it. scully is a badass who can carry this show alone and mulder is the most pathetic man alive, crying by the door all day like a sad basset hound left home alone. also he proposes to her. mr. king understood the show like no one else.
