Greetings!

If you’re looking for the places I actively write about my writing and talk about my books and so on, you want some of these places:

My author newsletter, sign up at the Foxhall Newsletter!

My @not-poignant tumblr, a great place to be, where I talk about Fae Tales, Perth Shifters, sometimes offer writing advice, and talk about fandom politics.

My Instagram and my Twitter account! I use these accounts for other things too, so they’re definitely not exclusively writing focused.

I don’t use this Tumblr as anything more than a landing page, come join many others over at @not-poignant and we’ll have a great time! :D Feel free to send me asks over there, you don’t even need an account.

Blackwood is now available for preorder!

About Blackwood:

In a world that is still getting used to shifters, where everyone thinks omegas are second class citizens, nature photographer and omega Braden Payne lets everyone think he’s a beta. That way no one gives him a hard time and he doesn’t have to live a repeat of his failed relationship. But when his car breaks down in the remote Blackwood forest in Western Australia, without the medication that lets him hide who he is, he’s faced with what he fears most: an unmated alpha.

Government forest guardian and alpha Coll MacDubhar is tired of illegal loggers, foolish tourists and people who underestimate the wilds of Western Australia. He discovers Braden lost and in need of medical assistance in the forest he protects and knows something’s not right.

But there’s hidden depths to Braden that capture his interest, and no decent alpha would walk away when Braden’s unwelcome past comes to visit.

Official Reading Order for Fae Tales Verse

Hiya! I’m Pia Foxhall (also not_poignant @ AO3 / not-poignant @ tumblr). I write slash or male/male or whatever you want to call it. All with healthy dashings of angst, trauma, hurt-comfort, elements of BDSM and consent play that is all thoroughly warned for, for every individual fic.

I currently have 2.8 million words available on Archive of Our Own under this account, and thespectaclesofthor, my alt account. It makes sense that people get confused with the reading order, considering the word swamp they’re about to enter! So let me make it easier for everyone. :D

So here’s the official reading order! The AO3 series links make the reading order plain, but Tumblr folks don’t always click on links.

Original Canon (also known as ‘fae tales’ and officially: The Fae Tales Verse)

1. Deeper into the Woods (novella) 2. Game Theory (undergoing reconstruction) (novel) 3. The Nightingale and Terho the Mouse Lad (short story) 4. The Court of Five Thrones (novel) 5. Unwound (novella) 6. The Ice Plague (novel/series)

Original Canon that’s optional

Not-Poignant Fanfic featuring Fae Tales Characters and Worldbuilding

1. From the Darkness We Rise (this used to be the first part pre: Game Theory and some people still prefer to read this series first). 2. Into Shadows We Fall 3. The Pitch Perspectives

Alternative Universes (also known as 'Fae Tales AUs’ - none of these are canon (though some come close!), and are all part of my immense love of writing alt. interpretations of characters. Blending the fanfic alt. universe trope with original fiction is fun! Come join me! These have no official reading order, so just jump in!)

And that’s the official reading list! I also have a Patreon account for my original fiction (not my fanfiction), which includes extras like chapter writer’s commentaries and more, as well as sneak peeks into my other original writing projects.

In the meantime, here are some links to my significant fanfiction projects. Please see the links for warnings etc.

Fanfic of Note:

The Golden Age that Never Was (Jack/Pitch - Rise of the GuardiansStuck on the Puzzle (Cullen Rutherford/The Iron Bull - Dragon Age: Inquisition) The Wind that Cuts the Night (Alex/Elliott - Stardew Valley)

Gwyn ap Nudd — Character Study, Part 1
"Do you want to know what I learned about you, all those years ago? I learned that you are a wild creature who tames himself for others, because that’s what your family taught you was right and proper. But wild creatures don’t take to the yoke well, that’s why we domesticate humans, and horses, and dogs. Not fae. And you tame yourself for others, but there are serious consequences, a barely restrained madness perhaps, and afterwards you’re so bewildered. You are so damaged by your reality that you need someone else to give you permission for it. Can you imagine? A wild creature, asking permission to be wild.” Augus Each Uisge, Game Theory(x)

Ash Glashtyn — Character Study, Part 2
"His fingers had never been as long as Augus’, but his hands had always been bigger. Augus’ fingers were suited to plucking fragile berries from spring-ripened bushes. Ash’s were suited to clasping tree branches as he hurled himself up towards the best view. Now, they were very well suited to grasping thighs and pulling them apart."
—————
"Nothing about the body repulsed Ash, it never had. Armpits were warm, soft places. Vulnerable and sensitive. Humans rarely expected to be touched there, often had their own taboos about the space, but they were like the backs of knees, they spoke eloquently, and Ash wanted to lick at Augus’ sweat, breathe in the scent of him, tuck his head into his arm and side and tickle him to laughter, then caress him firmly until he moaned." Ash Glashtyn, Strange Sights(x)

A long time ago I told Pia that 'There's No 'I' In Team' gave me a lot of Gwyn/Augus feels. And it still does. But most recently, it started to give me Ash & Augus feels too.

I can’t help but get the image of Ash hating himself, (and Gwyn, and TNK/Nightingale)  drowning in his guilt and anger and all of the whiskey in the world over those last moments he saw his brother. Drinking to forget. But no matter what or how much he drank, or however long he forced himself to sleep, it was all he could see, all he could hear. Tortured by what he did and torn over whether or not he even deserved to see him again (but wanting it no less.) But in general missing the fuck out of his brother before everything got so fucked up.
