Helena is the worst at her fucking job. She just kept pawing at the termite that flew in the house and was crawling around. I was the one who got up and smooshed it, and only THEN does she decide she's a mighty hunter who's gonna pin its dead body down and eat it.
This is why I'm fucked when there's roaches. Bc my cat has one job that she refuses to do.
Was talking to my mom on the phone and saying how unemployment isn't much one of the lowest rates in the country ofc, it's Louisiana but at least it's just enough to cover my rent. And then she was like, "Wait, that's how expensive the fancy in-town apartment was that you left?? I thought this one was several hundred cheaper!" I wish she could have seen my face bc it was absolute bewilderment. I guess she thought apartments *didn't* raise the price every year? And this is my fifth lease with this place? So yeah, not surprising it's now the cost of the place I left in 2020. Especially since there's a huge housing crisis here.
I know she hasn't rented a place in decades, but does she not live in the same capitalist hellscape as the rest of us?

THESIS: the real reason that people stay on this hellsite is not “chronological order” or “the drama” or whatever (per se), but is instead linked to how tumblr, unlike most social media, is not optimised to give content as short of a half-life as possible, but instead is optimised to let content continue to cycle for months, years, even decades. this has in turn led to a more consistent centralised site “culture” in which there is more coherent linkage among different areas of the site, thus also explaining why its content permeates so thoroughly throughout the internet.
