So is there a way to know when i didn’t banish something correctly? I evoked the High Priestess gregore and asked for help with learning/thinking critically and then i sent it on its way. so I thought. I’ve been having intense existential thoughts about life and such lately and it’s causing me distress, yet i have a sneaky suspicion it is because of this entity hanging out around me still. Is this a thing? I’ve never had an issue banishing before but now i’m concerned it won’t work for this now

Honestly, if you have to ask whether you should banish, the answer is yes. Worst case scenario, nothing needed to be banished but you made yourself safer and got some practice.

Fumigate. Tell the spirit it’s ok to leave and you’d rather it leave before you have to kick it out. Just be forceful with whatever banishing method you choose. You’re the boss. Wave an athame around. Get aggro. Scrub the ritual floors down with salt and blessed water. You can fix this. But yeah you really need to banish more often than not.

But maybe also learn to divine to make sure its not you just driving yourself neurotic overthinking it. You gotta calibrate your reality especially if like me you’re already kind of a neurotic person.

Say 51st Psalm every night for a bit. Burn frankincense while doing so. There are some baths you can take or even just scrub counter clockwise while reciting part of psalm 51:

Asperges me, Domine, hyssopo et mundabor, Lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor.

No Abrahamic belief required. Sometimes as we magic and get more sensitive, we pick up things that a good cleaning hygiene will help.  My divination goes sideways and I feel really uneasy if I haven’t uncrossed in a while when doing daily work.

There are Solomonic candle magic methods of creating the second pentacle of saturn to keep your house free of unwanted spirits.

I'm asking more for your personal opinion as opposed to a recommendation, but do you have any favorite non-infernal grims? Or ones you'd like to explore some day?

The Enchiridion of Pope Leo III is my favorite celestial book. I pray with it almost daily and many of its little remedies are potent and enriching. I cant overstate what a valuable friend this little book makes. I’d also be interested one day in tinkering with The Long Lost Friend, which is a book of Pennsylvania Dutch pow-wow. This magic has a lot in common in relation to the Faustian tradition but it’s cute and folksy and not really concerned with infernals.

Thank you for your question.

Ars Almadel can be worked over a year. It will bring increase of positive things, and decrease of things like responsibility to authority. If you enjoy making things, you create wax tablets per each season beginning when the sun is in Aries. It is a good precursor to infernal magic as you create connection with a horde of celestial beings. The rituals occur once every Sunday. Its not a huge commitment but very pleasant.

If you go full ham on the evocations, this is the primary way to contact archangels. The Heptameron circles can be added to the backs of planetary talismans and tables of operation, you can work with the Spirits of the Aire of these circles, and you can combine with solomonic candle magic methods as well.

If you get candle wax all over your incense censor, place that son of a bitch in a pot boiling water for it to be shiny and new.

Hey! Or put in the freezer.

Oh hell yes. Then it would pop right off. Great idea!
