I think that Illumi's family put a needle in his head years ago but that needle got shoved in farther than intended and it fucked him up. They deadass lobotomized Illumi.

I imagine that Killua was an infant. Illumi was about 11-12 and Milluki was 5-4 and Illumi was starting to get rebellious and was actively trying to get him and Milluka and possibly baby Killua out of there, when he realized that he was living in a house of horrors.

He went to go see his baby brother and tend to him because he heard him crying but instead saw his parents electrocuting him and felt a sense of protectiveness rush over him and ran to save him but was held back

So he made a plan to escape with Milluki and Killua but Silva caught wind of this and stopped him.

So what was Illumi's punishment ? Silva thought needle implant that would "cure his rebellious tendencies" and make him focus on assassination. It was a fairly old technique that he didn't even master yet, but he couldn't have Illumi taking his heir away, so he tried it anyways.

Illumi was probably strong as a kid, so his fighting caused problems and with Silva trying to stop his squirming, accidentally ended up shoving the needle into his brain at full strength, way too deep, in a weird angle.

Illumi's screaming stopped. His fighting stopped. And he went limp. Silva thought he had killed the boy at first, but after a few days of being passed out, Illumi woke up as an entirely different person.

His family didn't bother removing the needle, because even though it fucked him up personality wise, it made him a lot more obedient. Illumi doesn't even remember the needle getting put in his head or what he was like before that, all he knows is that he woke up one day fascinated by them and incorporated then into his assasination style. Silva even tought him how to implant them in people's brains after he had finally perfected the technique.

All Milluki knew when Illumi woke up was that his Illu-Nii didn't want to play anymore and didn't even notice him whenever he tried to get his attention and Killua ended up losing a brother who truly wanted to protect him and gained an emotionless puppet of a brother who thought he was "protecting" him when in reality, he was hurting him.

Not A Cat

(Cuterebra buccata, a gorgeous botfly which apparently parasitizes bunnies? So large I thought she was a cicada when I first sighted her!)

One can see how I initially took her for a cicada:

As always, if you're thinking about dropping a comment here which is hating on bugs, move along or get blocked.

Allow me to share a photo for size reference!

This could be a mammal

As we commemorate 76 years of the Nakba, it's crucial to remind everyone again that the Nakba was not an isolated incident that began and ended in 1948.

76 years ago, when Israeli generals like Moshe Sharett said things like "we have forgotten that we have not come to an empty land to inherit it, but we have come to conquer a country from people inhabiting it, that governs it by the virtue of its language and savage culture", of course current ones will carry the same genocidal notion with calls for "a Nakba [in Gaza] that will overshadow the 1948 Nakba".

The genocide that is carried out in Gaza today is only a continuation of the violence and massacres committed by now dead Israeli officials in the 1940s; it is an extension of policies that Israel founded itself on.

Make not mistake, the Nakba continues to this very day. With it, our pursuit of justice persists. And with the shifting tides, our call never wavered: Free Palestine.

The phrase “let people enjoy things” isn’t bad in and of itself, but the way it get misapplied sure is a problem!

“Let people enjoy things!” used correctly: people (primarily teenagers) having harmless fun (e.x. drawing Sonic OCs)

“Let people enjoy things!” used incorrectly/in a selfish manner: as a response to marginalized people pointing out the ways in which a particular media is harmful to them and others (e.x. when a show is antiblack)

“You antis just want sunshine and rainbows and nothing bad to happen to characters ever! How dare you censor us?!”

There’s a world of difference between “main character’s parents died because of plot reasons and this changes their development” and “main character is abused because the author thinks it’s fun and sexually gratifying”

I’ve definitely said this before but I find it endlessly entertaining that so many villain fuckers are weirdly insecure and defensive about it

“I don’t have to love morally pure characters! So there!” Okay your majesty but no one was asking you to

One day we’re gonna have to have a discussion about how adults in fandom expect fictional teenagers to be absolutely 100% perfect and mature and adultlike and never ever make mistakes, while coddling and loving on adult characters who act in a similarly immature manner.

Fans when a teenage character fucks up: >:( what an asshole! Why are they acting like that?! I know they’re traumatized and acting out but they’re so terrible! They need to face the consequences, the little brat!

Fans when an adult character fucks up: :( my poor little meow meow, my little skrunkly. Consquences? No! Leave then alone, they’re traumatized!

Posts that are like “people who hate and avoid tragedy are bad because they obviously can’t handle the tragedy and evil of the real world or uncomfortable subjects and that makes them stupid” are the epitome of making up a guy to be mad at

Who fucking cares if people like happy endings? Why are you so personally offended by that?

I can't find the previous post I made about this phenomenon, but people see characters who choose kindness as inherently simple and not complex people and, therefore, boring. Which is very odd to me tbh

It always goes back to meanness and cruelty being easy choices that don't require much thought or brain power, and kindness being the difficult choice that requires real thought and maturity.

We should start getting concerned with people's obsession with uplifting asshole characters, while vilifying the nice and sensitive characters that are practically abused by the other

Like y’all call nice characters crybabies and manipulative for crying over dead comrades. And then the assholes have to come up, shout, maybe literally beat them to “toughen up” and y’all call that a good friend

And that’s scary how y’all analyze people like this

the concept of “plot armor” has done irreparable damage to media analysis and literacy. “oh the only reason this character didn’t die is because they need to be alive later in the story” you don’t fucking say.

Plot armor as “The illusion of danger is gone and I am no longer engaged with this scene,” being turned into “Why didn’t x kill the main characters like it did all the nameless extras?” is why we cant have nice things.

Not to bring this up again but you clowns get on tumblr.com, aka the villain stan capital of the internet, every other week and wax poetic about how it's totes cool and fine to love villains and it has no reflection on your real life morals. And every single time, all of the most annoying, insufferable, self important knobheads on the site will crawl out of the woodwork to reblog it with the most awful, self congratulatory tags about how being a villain stan grants them and them alone the power to "know the difference between fiction and reality", mixed with some wailing about how liking the bad guy makes them more oppressed than the most oppressed person on the planet, and usually capped off with some form of "yeah! You tell those antis-- I mean people with no reading comprehension!"

All on a website where, once again, crawling up the metaphorical behind of the most genocidal of fictional fascists is considered fashionable and de rigueur .

Annoying as fuck, all of you.
