Happy Caturday 🐈
Biscuits are ready
FYI I just came across a thread on twitter which says that an author shared on google docs an explicit story with a friend for beta reading and google removed the file due to violation of TOS (apparently it has been updated where you are not allowed to share anything with sexual content). Not sure if it’s just this instance or if it’s going to become a widespread thing but if you guys write in google docs MAKE BACK UPS!!
Edit: also wanted to add that it seems that Microsoft word has the same language in their TOS so onedrive is not a safe alternative!
incredible. can people share what they’re actually using as a google docs & microsoft word alternative? it really is time to move.
Screenshots of the screenshots. For those of you that don't Instagram. I guess... idk what imma do but I suppose the issue is sharing explicit content on Google docs? Wonderful.
Well if they are cracking down in guess we go back to emailing or posting focs
.
@impala-dreamer @kittenofdoomage you guys use google?
Jesus fucking Christ, I've got like a thousand fics on there 😭😭
EDIT: having gone through the reblog and comments, it's become apparent there's no need to panic, Google definition of "pornography" is relevant to pictures/actual people/videos etc. and also it's more likely the OG author who got their account suspended had it done so because she shared the file to a bunch of address and got flagged as spam.
I'm still gonna start backing everything up I think. Just so I don't panic next time 😂 I just haven't found a word processor I'm comfortable with yet.
I'm sorry for being so sappy, but I wanted to show you guys something.
When I first donated to PCRF in December 2023, it was barely 10% close to its goal. Now in March 2024, they're also 100%. Everyone of you has helped support a better future for Gaza.
They're so close to their goal. Please donate or share this post so that they can get to their goal🇵🇸
They have a new fund for Ramadan that is as of today (March 19th, 2024) at $477,663.81 out of the $400,000,000 goal!
During the most poor and homeless period of my life, I had a lot of people get angry with me because I spent $25 on Bath and Body Works candles during a sale. They couldn’t comprehend why the hell I would do that when I had been fighting for months to try and get us on our feet, afford food, and have an apartment to live in.
Those candles were placed beside wherever I slept that night. In the morning, I would move them and set them wherever I’d have to hang out. At one point I carried one around in my purse - one of those big honking 3-wick candles. I never lit them, but I’d open them and smell them a lot.
I credit that purchase with a lot of my drive that got me to where I am today. I had been working tirelessly, 15+ hour days with barely any reward, constantly on the phone or trying to deal with organizations and associations to “get help at”. It’d gone on for almost a year by the end of it, and I was so burnt out, to the point that I would shake 24/7. But I could get a bit of relief from my 3-wick “upper middle class lifestyle” candles. They represented my future goals, my home I wanted to decorate, and how I would one day not be in this mess anymore.
When we moved into the apartment, and our financial status improved, I burned those candles every single day. When they were empty, I cleaned them out, stuck labels on them, and they became the starting point of my really cute organization system I had ALWAYS planned to have.
So whenever I hear about someone very poor getting themselves a treat - maybe it’s Starbucks, maybe it’s a home deco item, maybe it’s a video game… I don’t judge them. I get it. I get that you can’t go without anything for that long without it making you go crazy. You need to pull some joy, inspiration, and motivation from somewhere.
poor people deserve things they want, too. it is unfair to expect poor people to only buy things they “need”.
My grandfather used to tell me: if you only have 20 kr left, you buy grocery for 10 kr and flowers for the other 10 kr because you need a reason to live as well.

oh my god do not click links in emails that tell you to verify your data or your bank account gets locked or click links in messages telling you your safety protocol is ending, like, tomorrow, you will get SCAMMED SO BAD AND YOU WILL LOSE A LOT OF FUCKING MONEY never ever let anyone pressure you into giving away login information especially to your online banking by creating a sense of urgency oh my GOD
some things to look out for
1. spelling mistakes. do you know how many rounds of marketing and sales experts these things go through? if theres a spelling mistake dont click it
2. not using your name. if an email adresses you with “dear customer” or, even worse, a generic “ladies and gentlemen”, it is most likely not actually targeted to you
3. verifying or login links. even IF your bank was stupid enough to send these to customers, dont EVER click those. look at me. they can legally argue that youve given your data away and thus they dont have to pay you anything back DONT CLICK THAT FUCKING LINK
4. creating a sense of urgency. do this or we lock your account next week. do this or your ebanking stops working tomorrow. give us all your money in cash or your beloved granddaughter will get HANGED FOR MURDERING BABIES. no serious organisation would ever do something like that over email or sms. ever. hands off.
5. ALWAYS CHECK WHO SENT YOU THE EMAIL. the display name and the email adress can vary a LOT. anyone can check the display name. look at the email adress. does it look weird? call the fucking place it says its from. you will likely hear a very weary sigh.
6. if its in a phonecall, scammers love preventing you from hanging up or talking to other people to have a little bit of a think about whats happening. there should always be a possibility to go hey i wanna think about this ill call back the official number thanks.
7. do not, i repeat, do NOT a) call a phone number flashing on your screen promising to rid your computer of viruses after clicking a dodgy link and b) let them install shit on your computer like. uh. idk. teamviewer.
7.i. TEAM VIEWER LETS PEOPLE USE YOUR COMPUTER HOWEVER THEY WANT AS LONG AS THEYRE CONNECTED. IF YOU DONT KNOW FOR FUCKING SURE YOURE TALKING TO ACTUAL TECH SUPPORT DONT GIVE ANYONE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER.
fun little addendum: did you know a link can just automatically download shit? like. a virus? an app you can’t uninstall unless you reset your entire device? dont click links unless youre extremely sure you know where they lead. hover your mouse over it and check the url.
thanks.

Right what is this, I must watch it.
The cancelled-too-soon Powerless!
IT was the most light hearted DC comics content EVER and was WONDERFUL! IT was like Better Off Ted but with all of the DC IP to play with! There was an episode where they invented an epipen for Joker gas! They had a fantasy super hero league where they bet on what hero would save the most people each quarter! There was even a whole sub plot about how one character was convinced Bruce Wayne was The Flash.

There is a discharge petition going around. With enough signatures from Democrats and Republicans, the Ukraine aid bill can be brought to vote even without the Speaker's approval. If you are in the US, please contact your representative and ask them to sign the petition. Copied the following from Twitter:
🚨CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE 1x DAILY! 🚨
➡️ If they haven't signed yet, say:
Sign the discharge petition (H.Res. 1016) to bring Ukraine aid (bill H.R. 815) to a vote!
➡️ If they've already signed, say:
Thank you! Please urge others to sign.
== Background ==
The Senate-passed Ukraine aid package was put up for a discharge petition last week.
If it reaches 218 signatures, it can be brought to a vote even against the Speaker's opposition.
== As of Mon. 18 March ==
Total signatures: 177 (out of 218 needed)
Needed signatures remaining: 41
Democrat signatures: 177 (with 36 remaining).
No Republicans have signed yet.
We assess: Republican Reps are waiting to see how many Democrats sign before they make a decision.
Current top priority: CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE!
-- If they haven't signed yet - urge them to sign the discharge petition (H.Res. 1016) to bring Ukraine aid (bill H.R. 815) to a vote.
-- If they've already signed - ask them to reach out to their remaining colleagues to encourage them to sign.

If any of you ever feel like what you're doing for Palestine isn't helping anything, I'll tell you right now it's helping me. I know it is fortifying all of us who have been in this fight for years to see so many people willing to speak up. It has never been like this before.
The tide has already turned. The fact that #free palestine will have new posts everyday, that helps me. It helps my mental health knowing that Palestinians are less alone now than ever.
Yesterday I read some verses from the Quran talking about how "the blame" is not with those who wish to help but cannot, but with those who CAN help and do not.
Truly I do not care if all you do for Palestine is post in that #free palestine everyday, that is still more than many people with the means to do even more would do.
We see you. We see you standing in solidarity with us and with Palestinians. We love you. Thank you.
I have to keep reminding myself that the point of collective action is that it's collective.
It's terrifying and demoralizing that nothing thus far has stopped or more than briefly paused the genocide.
But that's not a reason to stop trying.
If you can protest in person, do that.
If you can donate, do that.
If you can write your officials, do that.
If you can click once a day, do it here: https://arab.org/click-to-help/palestine/
And if all you can do is share, do that.
