“Reblogs over likes” doesn’t just apply to fanart. It applies to all content types. Fanart, fics, ficlets, headcanons, etc.
It’s not a greedy thing. My best motivation is positive feedback. Leaving tags, messages, and comments, or simply reblogging let me know that you like what I did, and I should do more like it.
A simple like doesn’t tell me anything, doesn’t share my work, and doesn’t motivate me or help me learn what my followers enjoy. They’re empty, you know? “Oh, neat”, tap, keep scrolling.
If my posts don’t do well, I end up thinking I’m loosing my touch and I’m doing something wrong, even if my follower count is growing (again, mostly regarding my content blog). I post ficlets, headcanons, shitposts, and occasional fics and art, and they rarely do well, which makes me anxious about my content.
I’m not asking for mounds of notes. I’m asking for feedback. Of 70 followers, I tend to get around 6 notes a post and only likes. It’s disappointing, particularly when I spend a large majority of my time thinking of new things to post.
Leave more than a like. A comment, a reblog, and tags mean the world.
If you enjoy content, let creators know. Reblog.
