Can someone please explain to conservatives that not everything you dislike should be illegal

There’s a lot of things I’m personally against that I still think should be legal. White people with dreadlocks probably shouldn’t exist but you know. Keep it legal. Free speech or whatever. You’ve got a right to make bad decisions with your hair.

Conservatives talk a lot about government overreach and then try to make kissing illegal. Like my guy get your priorities straight

"Curtains keep out more things than they were closed for" - 177 days and 6 hours

I don’t know (or remember, maybe?) what this is for, but I like the idea.

What are the curtains keeping out? Why were they closed? Oooo I smell a writing prompt. Now I want to do something with this....

Friend: Says something.

What I want to say: I’m really interested in what you are saying. As my friend, I support you. I want you to know I am still here, still listening, and still enjoying what we are sharing together. However as this is a topic I myself have no experience with, or little to say or offer, I’m unable to produce much in the way of input from my side. However trust that I still adore listening to you!

What comes out: Yee.

u know when u scroll past a post because it’s talking about a serious topic? for example a national crisis in a different country or a donations post detailing abuse or just something triggering to you, because you don’t have the emotional capacity to deal with it at that exact moment? that’s okay. you don’t have to feel like a bad person just because a tumblr user said “don’t scroll!!!” you can scroll. if you know something will be triggering, you should never feel bad for skipping it.

Valid post op!!

It doesn’t even have to be triggering. You’re not required to reblog stuff. No matter what some random tumblr user says. Not reblogging, no matter your reason does not make you a bad person

Shit No One Told Me About My Period

I knew the basics before I got it, but I had no clue…

* The blood wouldn’t necessarily be red. When I first got my period, I spent a few min looking at my underwear wondering how I shit myself. I didn’t know the blood could look brown, or be thick.

* That tampons weren’t a good idea yet. I was 10 or 11 when I got my first period and physically smaller than an adult woman. My first attempt at inserting a tampon was very painful and unsuccessful. I wouldn’t use them until I was around 14 or so.

* That when you use pads the blood can get on your bottom and I’d have to occasionally clean off the toilet seat after using it.

* That getting your first period DOES NOT mean you’re fully developed and fully able to bear children. I could have technically gotten pregnant at that age, but I was still a child and pregnancy would have put my life in danger because I was still physically immature.

* That it wouldn’t be regular for another few years.

* That very painful cramping is NOT NORMAL once you reach your 20s and is cause for concern.

* That the blood and tissue you pass can look chunky or stringy and not like blood from a cut.

* That stress can halt your period for months BUT

* That doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant

Feel free to add your own

-passing blood clots is completely normal

-that your period may straight up skip a month when you first get it

-and then it’ll happen twice in the same month

-getting your period does NOT automatically make you a woman

Painful cramping isn’t normal in your 20’s? That’s a little concerning, mine have been getting exponentially worse

It is NOT normal.

I can 100% guarantee you have endometriosis, PCOS, or another hormone problem. If your doctor says it’s normal, DEMAND a second opinion.

Thinking that it’s normal is how people end up infertile or dead. It’s why so many women under 40 these days are having an almost impossible time either conceiving or preventing conception. Because no one teaches anyone that it’s the sign of trouble that can very seriously hurt you.

Anyone who has severe cramps, heavy bleeding, or irregular periods after about 19 years old should seek medical advice. None of those are normal.

If you have skin tags, a hard time losing weight, migraines related to your period, depression that is amplified when menstruating, severe mood swings, sleep disturbances that get worse with menstruation, or any other significant health problem that started with puberty and is worse when hormones are fluctuating you need to be checked.

None of the things that people relate to women on their periods is actually an example of a healthy woman. It’s an example of people who need one form of treatment or another.

…How was I never taught about this? Oh, right. Sex Ed classes are more skewed towards STDs and the consequences of getting pregnant than actually teaching kids about their own bodies. Nearly everything I’ve learned about stuff like this, I learned by being curious and exploring the internet.

To add on, there are people who don’t or very rarely get their period and can still get pregnant.

You dont have to use tampons! Ever! In your life! If they make you uncomfortable and you don’t want to use them, you dont have to use them, fuck the whole “using pads is immature,” thing.

^^^ Also, if you don’t like pads but tampons are scary or painful, there are alternatives!!

-Sea sponges are more comfortable and easier to insert (though a little more gross because they don’t have a string attached.)

-When Diva Cups are inserted correctly you have really good chance of not leaking. (It may take you a while to get them inserted correctly, though. That’s okay, it took me a couple of years having monthly periods to figure it out properly.

-OR!! If you don’t mind pads but wish they were reusable/gave you less of a diaper rash, you could buy cloth pads. They work well, they usually snap around your underwear, and you wash them with the rest of your laundry.

and all of those^^^ are reusable.

“Reblogs over likes” doesn’t just apply to fanart. It applies to all content types. Fanart, fics, ficlets, headcanons, etc.

It’s not a greedy thing. My best motivation is positive feedback. Leaving tags, messages, and comments, or simply reblogging let me know that you like what I did, and I should do more like it.

A simple like doesn’t tell me anything, doesn’t share my work, and doesn’t motivate me or help me learn what my followers enjoy. They’re empty, you know? “Oh, neat”, tap, keep scrolling.

If my posts don’t do well, I end up thinking I’m loosing my touch and I’m doing something wrong, even if my follower count is growing (again, mostly regarding my content blog). I post ficlets, headcanons, shitposts, and occasional fics and art, and they rarely do well, which makes me anxious about my content.

I’m not asking for mounds of notes. I’m asking for feedback. Of 70 followers, I tend to get around 6 notes a post and only likes. It’s disappointing, particularly when I spend a large majority of my time thinking of new things to post.

Leave more than a like. A comment, a reblog, and tags mean the world.

If you enjoy content, let creators know. Reblog.
