Travellers at Düsseldorf airport can now leave their services of ‘Ray’ the robot valet, in order to save precious minutes off their time at the airport.
After leaving a car in the arrival zone, users can either use a touchscreen panel or a smartphone app to confirm that no one is in the car, before the robot comes to pick it up with a forklift-like device and take it to a parking spot.
The robot is linked to the airport’s flight data system to know when the customer will return, or the app can be used to make any changes to pickup times.
The introductory rate for robot valet parking at Düsseldorf is 29 euros ($39.59) per day or 4 euros ($5.46) per hour. Although the airport is targeting business travelers in a hurry, the service is open to anyone.
Airports get the best stuff 1st.
