A Creative Review: Geico
Welcome back to A Creative Review with James Cooper. Today Coop takes to the sky!
A picture paints a thousand words or so they say. But what if your picture is a picture of words? Hmmm? Riddle me that!
I’ve always wondered about skytyping - for that it what making typography from little white airplane farts is called - as I sit on the beach at Fort Tilden and see another one go by. Do they work? How much do these thing cost? Can I get that in a different font?

It turns out they are pretty cheap. Of course they don’t last very long - but I was always of the opinion that if you wrote something pretty funny, then a ton of people would take a picture on their phone and post it to Facebook. You don’t think so? Have you seen some of the mundane junk people post?
Many moons ago Hunter S Thompson got a little rowdy and painted the words ‘F— the Pope’ on the hull of a boat in the middle of the night, knowing that in the morning the tide would come in and hide the words. But then, as the tide went out again his handiwork would be revealed. It’s the element of surprise when combined with an interesting location and good copy that makes something worth talking about.
So, Geico. We know you are omnipotent and can basically afford to do anything. But next time why not try writing something a little more interesting? If you need some help just give me a shout.
