MIAMI — The charismatic religious sect leader who calls himself the Son of God was convicted Wednesday of conspiracy to commit murder after a five-month trial filled with testimony about beheadings, mutilation and brutal beatings.

U.s. Charges Yahweh Leader With Ordering Murders, Terror
MIAMI – Religious cult leader Yahweh Ben Yahweh, the self-proclaimed “son of God,” was arrested on Wednesday for leading what federal agents called a six-year “reign of terror” marked by murders, extortion and arson.
A three-count federal racketeering indictment charges that Yahweh ordered 14 murders and in some cases demanded his followers cut off the ears of “white devils” as proof of the crime.
Along with Yahweh, 16 other members of the Nation of Yahweh sect were indicted.
In addition to the murders, the indictment says that Yahweh used extortion and a 1986 firebombing in Delray Beach to strengthen his religious empire.`
But the federal complaint paints Yahweh as a ruthless leader who condemned dissident members to be beaten to death or decapitated. It said he controlled the sex lives of his followers and forced female members to have sex with him.
“This brings to an end … a reign of terror directed against the entire community,” U.S. Attorney Dexter Lehtinen said. “Yahweh Ben Yahweh claims to be the true God, but in the indictment, he`s the leader who directed murders.”
