The Lick
One of the things that we love is collaboration. Working with a solid group of talented people is a rewarding experiences. The free flow of creative ideas, instant feedback, and healthy competitive juices can truly create works that are greater than the sum of their parts.
Sometimes people fear collaboration. We fear being homogenized. Losing our voice. This is especially true when the collaboration happens in the same industry. It is important to remember that, like “The Lick”, we are only ever producing our expression of the same phrase. In the web that phrase can be social sharing, engagement, sales, or dissemination, but it is essentially the same across the board. If you have good ideas, and you think someone else has good ideas, call them up. Buy them a beer, or some coffee and put those ideas together. You coule be surprised by the outcome.
I have always loved the guys from Public School. They have a series of posters for sale that express this idea perfectly. “Tie your shoes, pack a good lunch, and remember we are all in this together.” We have it framed in our office. It’s not just good advice; it has become one of our core philosophies.
