A/N: I hope you are all having a great monday. Feedback is welcomed and appreciated! <3 <3 I love you all so much!

This was requested by anon: Gibbs learning about your abusive past? Possibly while you’re both captured by the very people who abused you when you were younger? #Angst

You and Gibbs were chasing a lead.  It wasn’t much of one, but a lead was a lead.  When you and Gibbs kicked down the door, you were surrounded by masked men.  They had their guns pointed at you and the Marine.  When you looked at Gibbs for further direction, he held his hands up in surrender.

“Nice to see you again [Y/N],” one of the men spoke.  You knew that voice.  It brought back terrible memories from your past.  It was one of your step-dad’s friends.  Your step-dad abused you as a child.  This man knew about all of it, yet he never did anything to help you.  He was the one who set your mom and your step-dad up.  “We’ll have to let the bossman know that you’re here.  He’ll want to see you.”

They escorted you and Gibbs to a small room.  They locked both of you inside, keeping one of the gunmen outside of the room as security.  There was no way out of this small room.  Your leaned your back against the wall as you sat down on the floor.  You couldn’t help but feel hopeless as you started to cry.

Gibbs stopped assessing all of his options when he heard sobs coming from you.  His hardened expression became soft as he observed you.  He did have questions about how they knew your name.  The agent padded up to you, sitting down beside you.

“Is there something you wanna tell me [Y/N],” Gibbs asked.  “I don’t know many suspects who know my name unless I’ve pissed them off.”  Gibbs kept his gaze locked on you.

“There’s something you don’t know Gibbs,” you sniffled.  “No one knows.  Not Tony, not McGee, not Vance, not Abby, not Ducky, and not Jimmy.”  You wiped your tears on your sleeve, resting your head on your arms.

“It’s that bad,” Gibbs questioned, raising an eyebrow.  “I would think that you would know better than anyone, that you can come to me with anything.”

“It was a part of my past I’d like to forget about,” you explained.  “Every time I would come to your basement late at night, I would wanna talk about it.  I would back out every time and just talk to you about something else.”

Gibbs nodded, putting an arm around your shoulders.  He brought you closer to him, moving his hand up and down your arm in an attempt to soothe you.  “I’m listening [Y/N],” Gibbs spoke in a hushed voice.

You leaned your head against Gibbs’ shoulder.  You let out a heavy sigh before speaking.  “When I was little, my mom and dad went through a rough divorce.  My mom had to raise four kids on her own,” you began.  “At first my step-dad was a cool guy, but then after he started abusing my family, including myself, he wasn’t the guy I thought he was.”  You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes, begging to spill over your eyelids.  “No matter how many times my mom begged him to leave, he never did.  He would only leave on his own accord.  Since my mom could never afford a divorce, he could sneak his way back into our lives.”

“Why didn’t you go to the police [Y/N],” Gibbs wondered.

“We did,” you murmured.  “They never punished him.  At one point we just gave up.  The system had failed us Gibbs.  It’s part of the reason I got into this line of work.  I wanted to help fix the system that had failed my family.”

“I’m sorry that happened to you [Y/N],” Gibbs apologized.  “But you can stand up to him this time.  You’re not the same kid you were back then.  You’re a federal agent now.”

“Yeah, but he will most likely have a gun Gibbs,” you reasoned.  “He also has a dozen lackeys around here willing to shoot me the second he gives the say-so.”

“I’ve seen you take down murderers,” Gibbs shrugged.  “I don’t see how this is any different.  You know him on a personal level.  You know what makes him tick.  If anything I wouldn’t trust anyone else to get the job done.”

You shook your head, rubbing your hands over your face.  “I don’t think I can do this Gibbs,” you stammered.  “I’m not strong enough.”

The Marine grabbed one of your hands, giving it a squeeze.   Once he had your attention he spoke.  “You’re one of the strongest women I know [Y/N],” Gibbs reassured you.  “I’ve seen you take down DiNozzo and McGee at the same time.”  A small chuckle left the agent’s mouth.  “I don’t know many women who can do that.  I know you can do this [Y/N].”

You nodded your head, giving Gibbs an awkward sideways hug.  No matter how awkward the hug was, it felt comforting to you.  “Thanks Gibbs,” you hummed.  “It means a lot to me.”

“No problem [Y/N],” Gibbs affirmed.  “You can come to my basement any time you want.”

Seconds later you heard your step-dad’s voice in the distance.  You could feel your stomach drop.  That’s when Gibbs gave your hand another encouraging squeeze.  He climbed to his feet, pulling you up with him.

“Just remember, this is your chance to fight back,” Gibbs instructed.  “Show him who he’s messing with.”

As the door opened, your step-dad’s face came into view.  You took a deep breath before you straightened your posture.  Gibbs was right.  There was no way in hell you were going to take a beating this time.  Today was going to be the day you were going to stand up to the man who made your life hell all those years ago.  All thanks to Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
