Then and now: The band The Prince and the Paupers, who got their start in the Creek when four of the members were students at Campbell University. Their singing career took off when they won Campbell’s 1975 Talent Show. Their reaction to the win is pictured in the top photo and appeared in the 1976 Pine Burr yearbook.

The band still performs today, though four of the current band members serve as pastors and they live in different areas, which limits their availability for performances. They did play a recent gig at the Noel Conference sponsored by the North Carolina Baptist Foundation and held at Caraway Conference Center.

Current band members are pictured in the bottom photo. They are, from left to right, Bill Gerkin of Cleveland, Ohio; Campbell graduate Rick McDuffie of Fayetteville, N.C.; Campbell graduate Kenny Shore of Winston-Salem; Campbell graduate Allen Schuyler of Charlotte; Russell Jones of Charlotte; and Campbell graduate Mike Thompson (CU) of Kenansville.
