No big theories, more like little tid-bits that I could see happening, details really:
- If Brunhilde (I’m gonna assume that they kept her name from the comics) is a Valkyrie and they’re like around the same age means Loki was at least a teen when she and her squadron went on that mission and didn’t come back, which was probably a big deal, a whole squadron not coming back from a mission, meaning the princes have probably heard of it. I imagine the slick smile dropping off his face as he realises that she’s a Valkyrie and what that means, then going straight to “I’m so sorry I didn’t know” mode. Her being a Valkyrie has to come up at some point cause she’s not in her armor while working for the GM so I don’t think the brodinsons’d be able to recognise her as one, but then she joins team Thor to fight Hela to get her revenge for her dead squad, so they’ll have to bring it up at some point.
- Emphasis on them being equals to each other, so no ‘one person saving the other in combat, the other person having to be saved cause they can’t help themselves’, but rather them fighting alongside each other and developping a sense of mutual respect for each other’s skills, they’re technically a queer couple, it’d fit with that and them both being strong characters (again, as far as I can tell cause we technically don’t know much about what Val is actually like, but I’d figure she’s a strong character (both personality-wise and physically as she’s a fighter) and based on her being done with Loki already expression I’d say she’s not gonna take any of his shit, and we already know that Loki knows to fend for himself (I literally just made a 16 part comic about that xD) so I don’t think Taika would employ the “strong female character saves male character rather than the other way around” trope, cause it’d fit neither them nor Taika’s style)
- When they do kiss at the end (a kiss at the end being a standard romance plot-point) I’d like to see her kiss him first, cause he’s the kinda person that assumes nobody likes him until proven otherwise so I don’t think he’d make the first move (beyond jokingly hitting on her obvs or like being there for her (refer to valki hugggggsss drawing)) after which he would kinda look at her like o.o and then kiss her again, I think that’d be cute (and in character for them as far as I can tell so far) xD

My Valki-infested brain: I SMELL DRAMA!!!!!
@fuckyeahrichardiii – I’m hoping we’ll get to see Loki, for once, getting something that Thor also wants. And how Thor responds to that.
I just…I do not want Romance. I am tired of Marvel’s version of Romance. Give me a fucking action movie with some Norse Bro Feels please that’s all I want. Let that woman exist and be awesome without having to be a love interest. PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF FRIGGA PLEASE.
Yeah, agree. Just, FFS, let an MCU woman just BE A BAMF. Not a love interest. Not a foil for a male lead. And for the love of my Unholy Horned Chaos God PLEASE NOT a Magic Healing Romance Redemption for Loki just LET HER KICK ASSSSSSSSS.
It’s been pointed out that since they’ve had trouble with letting women just be BAMFs and not love interests, it wouldn’t look great if they started doing that with a Black woman.
I also don’t think it’s going to be a Magic Healing Romance Redemption. I think that Valkyrie will only go for Loki if and because he has already done the redemption work himself. It would be an indication that he’s crossed over from villain to antihero, NOT the cause of that transition.
She’ll be a badass anyway, if there was any doubt about that this news confirmed it, she’s a fricking Valkyrie after all xD
Also again, 1) in my theory she and Loki will connect BECAUSE he has learned his lesson (I don’t think I’d call that redemption but then again I don’t really believe in redemption, so this is as close as we’ll get xD) 2) Badasses can have love interests, that’s not something that excludes one another, no matter their gender, why is it normal for badass male heroes to have a love interest but as soon as you try and give one to a female character people will act like that somehow takes away her independance and her complexety as a character.
Also the thing about her and Loki being love interests (mutual love interests, Thor having an unrequited crush on someone won’t create a love triangle for anyone but him xD) that people tend to overlook in the fandom, is not (only) that he’s a former villain, but he’s a non-binary, IT WILL BE A ROMANCE INVOLVING A NON-BINARY!!!!! (Even if it’s not confirmed in the movies, but like it’s not NOT confirmed so we’ll assume they haven’t changed it from the comics)
Not only does that mean there will be a technically queer couple in the MCU (excluding the TV series) but also this is a thing that has never happened in mainstream movies/TV before (except on OITNB, but we know how that ended -.-)
Do you understand how important that is?
I (a non-binary) used to believe that the reason I was unsuccessful in my (non-existant xD) teen love-life was because I was “weird” (cause I didn’t know being non-binary was a thing yet) and didn’t fit into the classical binary that people were attracted to. I only learned that it was not that (I just have no game whatsoever xD) when I came to uni and met other non-binaries who had SO’s and one of my lecturers who, being male and mostly straight (as he calls it), is in a relationship with a non-binary (he actually did the narration on my animated documentary about non-binary gender)
So I’d just like to point out that Loki being one of the good guys this time around will mean that he’s allowed to have a friend, a love interest or both.
This is important for magic bro reasons but also because I just realised that if he does get a love interest it will most likely be Valkyrie. BE PREPARED FOR THAT POSSIBILITY.
I don’t think they’d bring in another character that we haven’t seen in promo stuff yet just for the sake of being someone’s love interest ((so no Sigyn that they could take from us right away again because she died in Ragnarok in the comics, thank goodness))
MEANING, if they do decide to give Loki a love interest, Val seems the most likely, like they already have a thing in the promo stuff; they had a knife fight, she’s the one who chained him up, she already looks fed tf up with him, they’re standing next to one another in the Team Thor lineup, which I previously attributed to Thor wanting to stand next to his fellow avenger and Loki wanting to stand as far away from Hulk as fucking possible xD but HEY! He and Val might just be buddys at this point in the movie, or at least whatever Bucky and Sam were in Civil War, it doesn’t have to be romantic (again he could also just get a friend, but then again I’m hoping for a Stephen so ye xD guess he might as well get two friends xD)
UPDATE:
I have concluded that they pulled a spiderman and split Amora up and into other characters like they did with Harry and MJ in Homecoming, giving Hela the villainous part and the affiliation with Scurge and giving Valkyrie the snarkiness (<-very important xD) and being Loki’s love interest part
