disappointed in the fact that we as a society do not talk enough about the fact that: 1. killian was included in henry’s call for help from his mothers and 2. that the portal opens and killian comes rushing out and defeats the knights in the room while regina just stands back. like girlie’s got magic, she could’ve done it quicker and easier but killian’s front and center with a single track focus on rescuing henry that he’s out here disposing of them so fast the old-fashioned way so he can save his stepson. m’boy.

Oh this was so difficult! There are so many great fics out there! So okay, im technically cheating because I've split my top five into five popular fics versus five amazing but highly underrated fics! So really I'm giving you ten but, oh well <3.

Killian Jones is a pirate captain down on his luck after a falling out with the Evil Queen. Emma Swan just found out she is the Savior. Their shared goals bring them on an epic quest to liberate the kingdom once and for all. It's a lot easier said than done.
He looks so serious that she wonders whether he’s thinking about her at all or whether his mind is on the dead woman whose name is tattooed on his arm.
“I’ve got a lot of scars.” He says finally, with a small smile as if he’s trying to make it sound like a boast instead of a warning.
In which Emma discovers that Killain has lived through more than she thought and is coping better than she'd imagined.
Then, because I am incapable of ever doing as asked, below are five extras that I absolutely love and just couldn't leave out:
do you ever think about the fact that henry’s probably super comfortable on the jolly roger like so much so that it’s like another home for himself?
based on the fact him and killian have regular sword fighting lessons on the jolly roger and that they regularly go sailing together (both canon events), henry’s probably spent as much time there as he has at the other homes (regina’s, emma’s, snowing’s, etc.) and he probably knows the place as intimately as he knows the others.
getting into headcanon territory here, i don’t care, but henry and killian have probably done sails overnight/multiple days (both with emma and without) and henry’s probably declared the lieutenant’s cabin or they do sleepovers in the bunks and henry’s got a favorite bunk. he probably knows the ship almost as well as killian, knows which floorboard will come up and which stairs creak. he probably has killer hiding spots.
i didn’t watch s7 but it’s probably why he jumps into navigating wish!hook’s jolly roger with such ease and knowledge — because he knows killian’s jolly roger so well.
and that’s just really important to me. :’)

A/N: And here we are, at the end. This was a fun fic and I'm glad I got to finish it this time around! Hope you all enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it!! Thank you always for the kudos/comments! I've gotten super bad at replying to comments, but just know that I appreciate ever single one of them and will re-read them because they just make me so happy!
So, even though this is the official last chapter, there is one more thing I'm going to be posting to this story. A deleted scene of sorts. It's missing a quick edit, but keep your eyes open for it!

Henry felt his hands shaking as he held the fabric in his hands. He took a deep breath, staring at his reflection as he tried again to get the knot right.
He was so concentrated on his work, that when a knock on the door sounded, he jumped and ruined his work.
"Come in," he called out, resisting the urge to run his hand through his hair in frustration. He grabbed both ends of the fabric and tried again for what felt like the hundredth time in just ten minutes.
"Everything all right, lad?"
Henry turned to see Killian come in. He gave him a quick flash of a smile before turning back to his reflection. "Yeah, it's fine. I just can't get bloody bow tie right."
Killian smirked, as he always did when part of his vernacular slipped out of Henry's mouth. "Would you care for some assistance?"
Despite wanting to do this on his own, Henry knew when he was beaten. "Yes, please," he said as he turned to face Killian and dropped his hands.
They were nearly the same height, Henry actually an inch and a half taller than him now. Something he enjoyed teasing Killian about, saying it was only a matter of time before it was more inches as Killian's back would inevitably hunch with his age.
Killian would then respond by challenging Henry to a duel, and, so far, the pirate would always win still.
Henry's nerves this evening scared away any teasing he might have for him for though.
Killian easily picked up the fabric with his fingers and hook, moving them expertly until the bow tie was tied perfectly against Henry's collar. "Don't worry, lad. It took me several tries to get mine just right on my wedding day as well."
Henry smiled a little at the memory. He had been seventeen, sitting in the groom's room while Killian let out a string of colorful curses at not being able to get the bow tie right.
"I remember," Henry said. "I think you were about ready to tear your hook through it and go without."
Killian let out an amused breath. "Yes, well, marrying your mother did a number on my nerves that day."

Woke: Killian Jones should be unable to cook because there's no reason he'd've ever been in a kitchen, especially a modern one.
Broke: um, achtually, he makes Henry grapefruit and mackerel in season six
Woke: Killian is completely bluffing, and has no idea how to make any kind of food. We don't even actually see him make the food, or hear him mention the food again.
Bespoke: Killian knows how to make grapefruit and mackerel because he learned how from his brother or someone else close to him and has been waiting for an excuse to share the recipe with Henry. It is the only food he knows how to make.
Ascended: Killian has only seen poptarts once before in his life, back in season 4, and it was prison food. Having been in an awful modern prison (where he was forcefed baloney,) there is no way he's gonna let his son just sit here eating prison food, not if he has anything to say about it.

Can we talk about how Henry called hanging out with Killian mother son bonding
